As a former WDW employee, lifelong Disney enthusiast (with my family and elders being annual visitors), I’m genuinely torn on how rapidly Disney is plowing through many of their “modernization” projects and predict that as a company, they’re going to have strong regrets with most of these recent projects.

While I agree that Figment and several other seemingly dated attractions have become semi-burdensome upkeep taking up valuable real estate along guest pathways, with increasingly less appeal to Disney’s growing dopamine chasing audiences (borderline non-cultured, highly distractible), I don’t think they’ve proven that they fully understand how to magically enhance these experiences for everyone. Injecting HD projectors with only a handful of decent technical animatronics like they did with Tiana’s Bayou, Star Wars, Little Mermaid, Nemo and Frozen, does not land the same enjoyment or magic as OG imagineering once did.

Disney is stepping over quarters to pick up nickels with little quality longterm investment into their most valuable guest segment pipeline.

They should just restore it to the original design with modern technology.

Instead, if they mess with it, they will turn it into Inside Out IP slop and give Figment a cameo and pretend they’re respecting Epcot history.

It’s Pathetically sad how Disney has hardly maintained Epcot. Yes, they should totally modernize Figment, especially with how popular he his. I miss the Dreamfinder. Take the classic elements and improve it! I’d like them to do something with the Human Body Pavilion, seems such a shame to let that rot with so many amazing things that could be done with it. Part of Epcot’s charm to me is entertainment + learning/exploration – Not IP rethemed trash.

Figment needs a trackless animated update, like Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway. Still keep on the idea of invention via imagination, but give him a beautifully animated life and skip the animatronics. One big full animated trackless ride with props would be great!

The original version was perfection. Charming, whimsical, imaginative! What they created was an abomination. If it were up to me I’d bring the original back!
