I love the 3 D mapping idea on the figure. I wish I had seen it. It makes the ride more interesting when implemented in certain scenes to tell the story. What I don’t like is when they took away the Great Movie Ride that had live action actors and put in a CG ride with no character.
What they SHOULD have done (or can still do in the near future) is use that same effect on the Jack Sparrow animatronic at the end of the ride … only this time, in reverse! 😎 They could create a “moonlight” effect shining through the window behind him, and the guests in the boat would watch him transform into a skeleton right before their very eyes, just like he did in the movie! 🤩 Of course, that’s just an idea…😉☠️
Too bad Disney execs didn’t heed the same out lash park goers expressed about taking out Rivers of America at WDW! The Cars Piston ride doesn’t belong at MK. They should have built it at Hollywood Studios, where all the other Pixar rides are. ANYWAY, I think the new character in Pirates sounds interesting and I hope to see it someday! Will be going again in December.
The Rivers of America are still open. No Cars is coming at all to MK. All Pixar rides and characters are going away forever from the parks due to the Walt Disney Company being broken up under antitrust and losing Pixar Animation along with its other acquired studios and IPs. It will have to either remove Pixar or pay billions in licensing with Pixar independent again and a competing studio again.

Sadly, he was brought back. He was just in B mode with a physical skull mask.

We were there yesterday July 5 and the animatronic was there and functioning. We didn’t mind the new technology. It fit in the scene.

That’s obviously not the original figure. It’s the new animatronic in “B” Mode!

What’s “B mode”???

Not the OG figure, just the new one in B mode.

I experienced it. I found it fine, but completely unnecessary and a little out of place.
