We were there on May 22 with 9:10 a.m. Lightning Lanes when the new version opened, specifically to try out the new features. For some reason (maybe related to the ride being down the first few hours) we were put in a group of 2, and they wanted us to both be pilots, which defeated the whole purpose of improving the other positions, so we talked them into letting my wife be an engineer, and I never did find out how that experience might have been more interesting than before. But from my viewpoint as a pilot, the fact that there were three possible destinations had no impact since I didn’t even know which one was selected. Overall, I found the bounty hunter storyline much less interesting and exciting than the old coaxium one — much rather chase a train to get something than go try to find somebody, especially when that Coaxium was badly needed back on the Starcruiser. I would actually qualify your statement “Grogu remains one of the franchise’s biggest stars” to say he’s one of Disney+’s biggest stars. Within the whole franchise, he’s nowhere near as big as the many characters who drove the movie trilogies. They made the same mistake with the Grogu movie, trying to make a movie-level event out of a popular streaming character. In Smuggler’s Run, Grogu will never be as big as Chewbacca, and the experience is much more about you controlling the ship and what your mission is than about how recent or popular the other characters are.

I love the ride and always had a long wait to ride it. I can’t wait to ride it with the new changes. Everyone in our group had a blast.
