Make every person/ parent sign a form stating they understand if they try to exit any ride that is in process they will be immediately removed from the park and will not receive refund or compensation. There is no reason for anyone to not follow directions. If they are not mentally able to follow them then they don’t belong on rides.

Just like Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. They have the ride Escape from Pompeii which had a similar drop. They have a lap ban though because you do lift out of the seat a little bit. Maybe it’s time for Disney to follow suit on this ride.

Sadly it seems that people have forgotten what common sense is. Lately it seems that safety restraints will have to be updated on any boat rides to prevent this behavior on any boat ride, not just this certain ride.
You pay for the privilege of being in the park. When you redeem your ticket at the gate, you agree to abide by park rules. If you fail to follow said rules, consequences should be swift: you AND your party should be removed from the park (if you make it so the entire party suffers from the bad acting individual, I would hope it would be a bigger deterrent). It should also affect any future access to parks and resorts – timeframe depending on the severity of the offence. Reckless endangerment like this should be an automatic life ban for the culprit along with fines for endangering others, any damages and for loss of enjoyment (calculated by park attendance for the day multiplied by the amount time the attraction is shutdown). And STICK to it! The fact that family attempted to get lighting passes as compensation for their own bad actions is absolutely disgusting.

The ride will now have to take a long pause at the top of the drop with an attendant making sure everyone is seated. People want to be dumb and do the wrong thing intentionally. Ruining it for everyone else. Those individuals should have a park ban for all disney parks world wide. In my opinión, people who are saying that they should put lap bars don’t know what they’re saying. The ride has been good for years. If people start jumping off to the lake from the mark Twain or the canoes. Are you going to say put restraints or lab bars. Doesn’t make sense to put lab bars in the Mark Twain right? This ride needs lap belts. Period. I went on it years ago and felt it was unsecured. Then my daughter took my grandson (he was 5 or 6) both lightweight people and she said he almost flew out along with her. Won’t ride that ride again because of that. What’s a lap belt cost? Should have had that years ago. Most of the time it’s not a problem but why risk it at all?
I think they should implement lap belts of some kind. I was there 2 months ago and rode tianas bayou adventure, in the front row, and there is anticipation (which for some translates to anxiety) leading to to the drop, and then the log slowly reveals the massive waterfall its about to drop you down before the flume is released. I definitely remember being scared and closed my eyes.
We rode this ride last year and it was so much fun. My dtr and grand dtr who is 6 yrs old and very neuro divergent. I rode in the car in front of them with my dtr’s wife, my lovely dtr-in-law. This ride is completely safe if you follow the rules. I don’t know if it would help the park to put several signs on this ride that say ride at your own risk. I also found all of the staff to be so kind and accommodating towards us as a family and a special needs child. Can’t thank you enough!
In 1992, on my 11th birthday, I did the exact same thing – I climbed out of the log on Splash Mtn at Disneyland during the ascent and got onto the platform alongside it. Not because I was misbehaving or breaking rules, but because I was terrified and had been coerced onto the ride by family and friends in spite of saying numerous times I didn’t want to go.
As the log started to ascend before the drop I panicked and started to get tunnel vision. I was in a complete state of fight or flight and fled for safety without even thinking. I was a child already suffering from complex PTSD, so that reaction was beyond my control.
I remember standing on the platform not knowing what to do, shaking, when a loud speaker started speaking. I was so scared I didn’t register the words at first and started walking around trying to get to an exit. Then I heard the loud speaker tell me to remain where I was. So that’s what I did.
The ride was stopped with my friends right near the top of the ascent while a park employee came to get me.
You can’t always control what children do out of fear, particularly when they’re in a situation they have not consented to. This has clearly been going on for a long time, as that was over 30 years ago.
Honestly, I can’t say that seat belts are a better solution, because at that point going down that drop against my will might have caused me to faint and have a dangerous blood pressure drop in an unsafe situation which had happened to me numerous times in other fear-triggered circumstances.
There should just be a safe space at the top for people to safely exit, and back out of the ride, if they change their minds before the 50ft drop. A park employee should be available to just escort a visitor they see is panicking and/or unconsenting.
I had a jarring first experience at the Disneyland ride that made me think twice about getting on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride again a second time at a later date with my family. During the ride somewhere I think in the first part of the ride there’s a sudden but hard drop or shift in the log ride that almost broke my teeth and surprised me how hard the jolt was that I had a hard time enjoying the ride from there on. The hit was terribly disturbing and I have never felt this cause me to fear it in any other ride at the park. I literally thought I had split my front teeth from the forced bite that happened to me from whatever had bumped me down in my seat without warning. Disneyland should look into this and have riders take a survey to see where this happens. Who knows if this was the reason why these kids imagined the worse might happen later on in the ride if they stayed on and caused them to get out due to fear of the ride not being safe.
So, add the lap bars! If anyone gets out of the lap bar they should not be allowed to visit any Disney Theme Park!!!! If you can’t act right or control your children you should not be able to visit any Disney Theme Park!!!! The 3 that left the ride while it was in motion should be banned as well!!!!!
The man who got off the ride was white, skinny with glasses. The woman who stood up and sat back down was white and not skinny. The 13 year old boy was white with goggles on.
Most flumes dont have a brightly lit up de-boarding platform in the dark area before the scariest drop. Keep the only lights on the riders and/or a rope or something preventing such easy de-boarding in that area. Not difficult.
Any and all who try to do something of this nature should be prosecuted and given an appropriate punishment. Trying to force a business to change, at significant cost, an entire program because of intentional bad behavior needs to be publically dealt with to keep others from being copy cats.
The problem isn’t that we need more restraints on rides like Splash Mountain/Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — it’s that people have lost fear of the actual worst-case scenario because they never see it.
For 30 years, people followed the rules because they understood what really happens if you don’t. Now? They think “worst case I get a check.”
Here’s what should happen: Right before boarding, show a 60-second video sequence — not as a loop that people tune out, but once, at the boarding point when it matters:
The consequence: Graphic footage or realistic depiction of what actually happens when someone exits mid-ride (head trauma, broken spine, the reality of the 50-foot slide).
The aftermath: That same person in court, losing their case because they violated a clear safety rule. Medical bills piling up. Bankruptcy. Loss of home. The financial ruin that follows thinking a lawsuit will bail them out.
This isn’t about being cruel — it’s about being honest at the exact moment someone makes the decision to follow the rule or break it. One clear, vivid showing right before they board works. It sticks for that ride. For that decision.
We’ve sanitized danger so much that people think consequences are negotiable. They’re not. Show them that, and behavior changes
I 100% think that some type of restraints should be on this ride. My 13 yr old is now afraid to go on the ride because the last 2 times that he did, he almost fell out. He stayed seated, but he is so light and it caused him to pop up. It’s a 50 something foot drop and it needs to be safe. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Do better Disney. Add restraints like Disney World.

As an adult you know what is expected. You know it has a drop you know that it may stop at some point. If your child cant handle that they shouldn’t ride it. First, LIFETIME BAN for anyone who even tries to stand or get out of the side and for all in their party. That will help keep reach other accountable. And possibly install seat belts that can go around 2 people so you can still have basically the same experience but you’re belted in.
The cause of these incidents is the realization that the imagineers should have left this attraction as it was. The re-theming gives guests such an unpleasant experience that they are desperate to throw themselves off the boat to end the misery that is Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Disney’s only solution to this problem is to restore the ride back to its Splash Mountain form.
First off the person who has the nerve to call themselves Walt Disney, shame on you. But your concern about people with the same names getting confused, how cute that you don’t understand that the park has your picture as soon as you enter the park, and because you need to use the app, you are tracked. The ride will now have to take a long pause at the top of the drop with an attendant making sure everyone is seated. People want to be dumb and do the wrong thing intentionally. Ruining it for everyone else. Those individuals should have a park ban for all disney parks world wide. Disney should release a statement saying if this trend continues then that will be the consequence. That due to the inappropriate actions of multiple guests the ride now has a longer wait time. Disney shouldn’t have to make any serious changes because someone wants their viral fame, that is absurd.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Ride is my absolute favorite ride. I hope it doesn’t get taken down because of these foolish people causing harm to themselves by exiting the ride. I would compare it to someone jumping off a tall building. Maybe limit the ride to mentally stable and non suicidal adults. Anything to keep that ride open!

In my opinión, people who are saying that they should put lap bars don’t know what they’re saying. The ride has been good for years. If people start jumping off to the lake from the mark Twain or the canoes. Are you going to say put restraints or lab bars. Doesn’t make sense to put lab bars in the Mark Twain right? People definitely should get ban for 10 year’s.

This ride needs lap belts. Period. I went on it years ago and felt it was unsecured. Then my daughter took my grandson (he was 5 or 6) both lightweight people and she said he almost flew out along with her. Won’t ride that ride again because of that. What’s a lap belt cost? Should have had that years ago. Most of the time it’s not a problem but why risk it at all?

I think they should implement lap belts of some kind. I was there 2 months ago and rode tianas bayou adventure, in the front row, and there is anticipation (which for some translates to anxiety) leading to to the drop, and then the log slowly reveals the massive waterfall its about to drop you down before the flume is released. I definitely remember being scared and closed my eyes.

We rode this ride last year and it was so much fun. My dtr and grand dtr who is 6 yrs old and very neuro divergent. I rode in the car in front of them with my dtr’s wife, my lovely dtr-in-law. This ride is completely safe if you follow the rules. I don’t know if it would help the park to put several signs on this ride that say ride at your own risk. I also found all of the staff to be so kind and accommodating towards us as a family and a special needs child. Can’t thank you enough!

In 1992, on my 11th birthday, I did the exact same thing – I climbed out of the log on Splash Mtn at Disneyland during the ascent and got onto the platform alongside it. Not because I was misbehaving or breaking rules, but because I was terrified and had been coerced onto the ride by family and friends in spite of saying numerous times I didn’t want to go.
As the log started to ascend before the drop I panicked and started to get tunnel vision. I was in a complete state of fight or flight and fled for safety without even thinking. I was a child already suffering from complex PTSD, so that reaction was beyond my control.
I remember standing on the platform not knowing what to do, shaking, when a loud speaker started speaking. I was so scared I didn’t register the words at first and started walking around trying to get to an exit. Then I heard the loud speaker tell me to remain where I was. So that’s what I did.
The ride was stopped with my friends right near the top of the ascent while a park employee came to get me.
You can’t always control what children do out of fear, particularly when they’re in a situation they have not consented to. This has clearly been going on for a long time, as that was over 30 years ago.
Honestly, I can’t say that seat belts are a better solution, because at that point going down that drop against my will might have caused me to faint and have a dangerous blood pressure drop in an unsafe situation which had happened to me numerous times in other fear-triggered circumstances.
There should just be a safe space at the top for people to safely exit, and back out of the ride, if they change their minds before the 50ft drop. A park employee should be available to just escort a visitor they see is panicking and/or unconsenting.

I had a jarring first experience at the Disneyland ride that made me think twice about getting on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride again a second time at a later date with my family. During the ride somewhere I think in the first part of the ride there’s a sudden but hard drop or shift in the log ride that almost broke my teeth and surprised me how hard the jolt was that I had a hard time enjoying the ride from there on. The hit was terribly disturbing and I have never felt this cause me to fear it in any other ride at the park. I literally thought I had split my front teeth from the forced bite that happened to me from whatever had bumped me down in my seat without warning. Disneyland should look into this and have riders take a survey to see where this happens. Who knows if this was the reason why these kids imagined the worse might happen later on in the ride if they stayed on and caused them to get out due to fear of the ride not being safe.

Most flumes dont have a brightly lit up de-boarding platform in the dark area before the scariest drop. Keep the only lights on the riders and/or a rope or something preventing such easy de-boarding in that area. Not difficult.

I 100% think that some type of restraints should be on this ride. My 13 yr old is now afraid to go on the ride because the last 2 times that he did, he almost fell out. He stayed seated, but he is so light and it caused him to pop up. It’s a 50 something foot drop and it needs to be safe. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Do better Disney.
