With July only a few days away, now is the perfect time to double-check your Walt Disney World plans. Summer is always one of the busiest times of the year at the resort, and this July brings more than just holiday crowds. Guests will encounter special entertainment, attraction closures, resort refurbishments, new experiences, and ongoing construction that could affect how they tour the parks.

Some of these changes will only last a few days, while others will remain in place for months. Either way, knowing what to expect before you arrive can help you avoid surprises and make the most of your vacation.
Here’s a look at some of the biggest changes arriving at Walt Disney World as July begins.
Fourth of July Brings Special Fireworks to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT
If you’re visiting during Independence Day weekend, don’t expect the usual nighttime schedule.
From July 3 through July 5, Magic Kingdom will temporarily replace Happily Ever After with Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky. The patriotic fireworks spectacular features projections on Cinderella Castle and Main Street, U.S.A., along with a soundtrack celebrating the holiday.

EPCOT is handling things a little differently. Luminous: The Symphony of Us will still take place each evening, but guests sticking around afterward will also get to see Heartbeat of Freedom. Rather than replacing the regular nighttime show, this patriotic fireworks finale follows Luminous and lasts about five minutes.
Because these performances only happen for three nights, guests should expect heavier evening crowds at both parks.
Carousel of Progress Is About To Close
Anyone hoping to experience Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress may want to make it a priority before July gets underway.

The longtime Tomorrowland attraction is scheduled to close on July 6 for an extensive refurbishment that is expected to last well into 2027. While Disney has not shared every detail of the project, the update is expected to refresh several scenes while keeping the attraction’s classic storytelling approach intact.
For many longtime Disney fans, Carousel of Progress remains one of the most nostalgic attractions in Magic Kingdom. That makes the first week of July one of the final opportunities to experience it before construction walls go up.
Extended Evening Hours Continue Throughout July
Guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts, Disney Deluxe Villas, and a handful of participating hotels will continue receiving access to Extended Evening Hours throughout July.
The extra time allows eligible guests to remain inside select parks after regular closing, often with noticeably shorter attraction waits.

Magic Kingdom and EPCOT will once again alternate hosting the benefit on select evenings throughout the month. If you’re eligible, it’s worth building your itinerary around these nights since they often provide some of the best opportunities to experience popular attractions with smaller crowds.
A Major New Entertainment Venue Has Arrived at Disney Springs
Disney Springs is also entering July with something brand new.
LEVEL99 officially opens just before the calendar turns to July, transforming the former NBA Experience building into an interactive entertainment venue filled with dozens of physical and mental challenges.

Unlike a traditional arcade, LEVEL99 encourages guests to move through different challenge rooms while competing with friends and family. Since this location is the company’s largest venue so far, it’s expected to draw significant crowds throughout the summer.
Visitors planning an evening at Disney Springs should be prepared for increased activity around the West Side as curious guests stop by to experience the newest addition.
One Popular Restaurant Is Preparing for a Temporary Closure
Resort guests planning to enjoy breakfast or brunch at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa should also be aware of an upcoming refurbishment.
Grand Floridian Cafe is expected to close in the second half of July for renovations lasting into October. Fortunately, Disney isn’t eliminating brunch altogether. During the closure, brunch service will relocate upstairs to Citricos, allowing guests to continue enjoying many of the same offerings while work takes place downstairs.

It’s a helpful alternative, but guests should still anticipate changes if dining at the Grand Floridian is part of their vacation plans.
Several Refurbishments Will Continue Into July
Not every closure arriving in July is actually new. Several projects that began earlier this year will remain ongoing as the month begins.
Big Top Souvenirs in Storybook Circus remains closed while refurbishment work continues. The nearby character meet-and-greet area has already reopened, but the gift shop itself is still unavailable.

Over at EPCOT, La Signature inside the France Pavilion is temporarily closed while refurbishment continues. Guests looking for French fragrances and cosmetics will need to wait until the shop returns later this year.
Meanwhile, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort also remains unavailable. Guests hoping to enjoy the resort’s famous tropical drinks will instead need to visit Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, which continues operating through its walk-up list.
Checking refurbishment schedules before your trip remains one of the easiest ways to avoid unexpected disappointments.
Construction Continues Across Walt Disney World
Construction also remains impossible to ignore throughout the resort.
Magic Kingdom continues its transformation of the former Rivers of America area into Piston Peak National Park, the upcoming Cars-inspired expansion. As work continues, construction walls, changing walkways, and temporary closures may affect how guests move through Frontierland.

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, work continues on Tropical Americas, the massive new land replacing Dinoland U.S.A. When complete, the expansion will introduce attractions inspired by Encanto (2021) and Indiana Jones, making it one of the resort’s biggest ongoing projects.
While construction is part of Disney’s constant evolution, it can occasionally impact walking paths, views, and overall park navigation.
Plan Ahead Before July Arrives
July is shaping up to be another busy month at Walt Disney World, and a little preparation can make a big difference.
Whether you’re hoping to catch the special Fourth of July fireworks, squeeze in one final ride on Carousel of Progress before it closes, visit the new LEVEL99 at Disney Springs, or simply avoid arriving at a temporarily closed restaurant or shop, knowing what’s changing ahead of time can save both time and frustration.
Disney World is constantly evolving, and this summer is no exception. Before packing your bags, take a few extra minutes to review what’s changing around the resort. It could help you build a smoother itinerary and leave more time to enjoy the magic once your vacation begins.
