Disney already destroyed the interior of the great ceremonial house by removing the tropical oasis with waterfalls, wildlife, tropical plants, and lagoon. They made it a totally open sitting area. No magic or imagination!
Once when my family was younger we scrimped and saved for a very expensive vacation at the Contemporary. They did not tell us ahead of time about the construction that was loud and ongoing. We paid full price with no compensation or ability to switch resorts. Put a damper on the whole trip!
I have stayed in different resorts. I also stayed at the All Star Music to ring in the New Year. Out of all the resorts that I have visited or stayed at. The Fort Wilderness cabins was the absolute best. No kids or husbands at that time. Just a few girlfriends. Best place ever.
I’d be willing to be that you people complaining about these updates would be the exact same people complaining that Disney let their property get outdated and tattered
54 years ago when you first opened the Polynesian, my husband and I took our children out of school early, boarded a train from Richmond Virginia and spent one week at the Polynesian. Our mouths dropped open at the flowers,, the friendly employees, the train they could take on their own around the area. Very few people there so we rode over and over. I still sing “Small World?. A wonderful memory
I don’t like the updates either, specially what they’re doing to the magic kingdom. I haven’t gone for years and in my opinion the people who are in charge of Disney now are incompetent to be holding the torch for Walt’s vision and dreams. In fact, I used to know somebody very well who was in management at the Disney studios in burbank, and she felt the same exact way and told me stories that explained why. In a nutshell, they just don’t share the values in the heart of Walt Disney so they without even knowing what they’re doing they’re dismantling his work little by little and replacing it with very mediocre stuff. It’s expensive mediocre stuff granted, still mediocre.
Yes a removal of splash mtn, the removal of the rivers of America, the awful decisions regarding sky Ride a von roll classic. And not accepting cash! The be all end all for me. I don’t take American dollars, then no thanks

Yep!! I loved the atrium. When I came back after it was removed, I just stood there with my mouth open, said why?
