Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, Star Wars has been best known for the sequel trilogy films The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019). But since Disney+ launched in 2019, the Mando-Verse has made up a huge part of the brand.

The Mando-Verse Represents a Huge Part of Disney Star Wars
While Disney Star Wars hasn’t been exclusively anchored to the Mando-Verse, for the most part, the Disney+ shows that make up that part of the franchise’s timeline — The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew — still represent the majority of its live-action streaming content.
Not only that, but the Mando-Verse has now officially transcended the streamer with the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026).
Unfortunately, due to a mixed reception from audiences and critics and an underwhelming performance at the global box office, the Mando-Verse may be over.
Beyond the upcoming second season for Ahsoka, there are currently no known plans for the other live-action shows to be revisited — not even the flagship series, The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian Universe Is Collapsing
So that’s how the Mando-Verse dies… with a whimper.
According to recent comments from The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau, who also directed the film, plans for a fourth season of the Disney+ series have been shelved. As such, it remains to be seen what the future looks like for Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu.
As for Dave Filoni’s long-promised untitled Mando-Verse project, which was expected to act as a crossover between shows like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, reports suggest that it’s unlikely to move forward on the big screen, with rumors claiming it may now be reworked into a limited series for Disney+ instead. That would hardly be surprising now that the Mando-Verse has culminated in a poorly received film.
Ahsoka Season 2 remains the only Mando-Verse project in development. But it may represent the final entry for that timeline.
Earlier this year, “according to insider Daniel Richtman, Lucasfilm is considering potentially moving away from the Mando-Verse for future Star Wars projects,” The Direct reported.

A New Era Will Replace the Mando-Verse
So, the Mando-Verse, which is set during the New Republic era several years after the end of the original trilogy, may quietly end with The Mandalorian & Grogu. But either way, an all-new era is already set to begin with the upcoming film, Star Wars: Starfighter (2027), which is a “standalone adventure” set five years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
Post-sequel trilogy territory currently remains uncharted. While there are still reportedly plans for a Rey-centered solo movie, which is said to take place 15 years after the 2019 film, Starfighter will be the first to arrive in theaters, releasing worldwide on May 28 next year.
Directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine), Starfighter stars Ryan Gosling in the lead role, alongside Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams.
