It is really no different than any other animatronic breaking down in the carousel of progress. They would have to close the ride to fix it too.
When they work on Walt for the CoP, PLEASE make his face thinner, the eyebrows less bushy, and his forehead taller. How can the Imagineers not see these flaws in reproducing Walt’s face???
