Dear Disney, if you’re looking for a new Star Wars story I have one:
You probably don’t care about the two Ewok movies since you weren’t the one to create them BUT you could totally make a continuing story from there about the orphaned girl Cindel who left Endor with the hermit. She would’ve had to have been raised by either the hermit or another family in the Republic. Do a story about Cindel! She could return to Endor to visit Wicket!
Anyway, just a thought. I think the next Star Wars movie I’ll watch this weekend is Battle for Endor. 🍿
How about no… There’s plenty of better lore that if done correctly (which means none of the writers and directors used from previous projects aside from animation) , can be a great hit. We haven’t had a decent star wars movie since 2005. George Lucas already had awesome ideas for the sequels and instead Disney decided nah let’s make everything God awful/woke/ and lore breaking …and any new ideas they had? They never fleshed out or explained unless in a book nobody reads. … Look at the streaming numbers, nobody likes the sequels
Here’s my thoughts. The movies were made, shown and trust me, many people agreed this was great. People as in fans, paying to see these films. People who watched the originals from 1977 to now. People all in between. Sure, the story’s were at moments ackward, but we loved it. As for the next 3? Bring em in. Do what you think is best and put it out there. But for the love of God, stand by it, own your good, your bad and your final piece. Either way lets do this. For the story has more to tell
speak for yourself. myself, and every star wars fan i know, including people who saw the 1st trilogy in theaters, hate the newest trilogy and everything put out by disney, save rogue one.
for the newest trilogy, the story is weak at best, it’s full of propaganda, crappy humor, horrible writing, and it turns the characters we know into a joke (Luke runs away from everyone to cry on an island? palpatine somehow returned? really??)
that’s not to mention the pace at which disney is releasing star wars is mind boggling, and not in the good way. we have fatigue, and we wouldn’t if the products were decent, like the first 6 installments.
if you want to know more about the story of star wars, read the books.
Exactly. When Rey became a Jedi out of nowhere, I thought this is just woman empowerment nonsense. But Luke on that weird island milking sea cows and demeaning the Jedi cult altogether, I wondered if I was watching Star Wars at all. I am a nominal fan at best, but the contortions they make to wokeify everything is nuts.
I think the major issue is disney had yearrrsss of backlog and content and source material to pick from and rather than play with that they decided to consign it all to “legends” continuity and make their own stuff…..which would have been great if they didnt initially lean really heavily into cheesy nostalgia and tricks (a death star planet called starkiller base referencing somthing they retconned? , the return of a “rebel alliance” even though they technically govern most of the galaxy now? , the first order/donald duck brigade just being rehashed stormtroopers that happened to be remnants of the empire and powerful enough to be annoying? And palpatine coming back…which did happen in legends but was so much less cheesy ) ….mix that with alll the development and writing issues and the story plot changing each movie with each new director for the worse ….dont get me wrong…vissually they were a spectacle and the music was on point…but the rest? The rest made a bit of a mockery of starwars as a whole that favreu, filliloni and devs of other media like respawn entertainment are now having to fish for what they can salvage. I love starwars…and i absolutely wanted to love the sequals! But what we got was so…so bad in the grand scheme of things (heck they had some fantastic actors in ridley, driver, isaccs etc but the poor plot and terrible choreography ((those saber fights were worse that the original vader/obi fight with them just alternating sides on the strikes))just killed it)
I feel disneys best option, and biggest risk, would be to retcon the sequal trilogy, and start over either working from scratch or plucking bits here and there from the legends/EU continuity. As that would sort the story and continuity issues out and allow them to really hash out some fantastic content from the outset…
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Stop making girl boss movies, and more importantly, stop making everything and everyone black and gay. The other 96% of the population is tired of it. Just focus on the story instead of ideology. No one really cares what color or gender you are, so stop forcing it. See what I did there?
No she wasn’t. The women created by Lucas were all awesome and they were not just lame Mary Sue’s. Leia was strong but she wasn’t perfect at everything and she has her tender loving side. She made mistakes and she was interesting and heartwarming just like Padme. Lucas was so awesome at creating female characters that even Aurra sing who was on film for five seconds was turned into such an awesome character that fans loved her. She got comics and toys that everyone loved unlike Rey who is the protagonist of a whole trilogy and almost nobody cares for her. Three whole movies about her and she’s disliked by most and tons of fans don’t want to see her against a five second character that fans loved and she’s not the only one. We loved Shaak Ti, Aayla Secura, Barriss Offee, Tra Saa, The Dark Woman, Guri, Mara Jade……I could go on and on! So the problem is not if we would feel bad about a Leia movie. It’s that nobody who loves the females of SW wants to see a movie about a perfect Mary Sur Leia who’s only purpose in the movie is to show how incompetent Luke, Han, Wedge and every other male character is except Lando cause since he’s black he gets a free pass.
It’s dishonest to claim that the movie has been redeemed in supplemental media. Most normal movie-goers don’t have either time or inclination to delve into the labyrinth of marketed junk built up around these movies. If the movie fell flat for you, chances are you never bothered to scour the supplemental media for a reason change your mind. I saw the second two movies of the sequel trilogy once each, and the impression I had was so weak that I haven’t regretted not going back. Those movies were like amateur self-insertion fanfic. Supplemental media is bound to be marketed to people who are looking to have their opinions changed and unwilling to notice that they’re consuming material from six thousand unaffiliated creators whose only unifying vision is to make money from an IP that they didn’t (and probably couldn’t) create on their own.
She’s no fucking Skywalker. She’s a Mary Sue with no character arc or growth. I used to write such characters when I was 11-14, overpowered and with no flaws. A “badass” I thought. And then wondered why my characters were boring. If you put them through shit, have them fail, they grow and become interesting. Like Luke Skywalker. She’s a parasite feeding on the original mythos. I primarily blame J.J. Abrams and KK. Shit writers and world builders.
The alternative, is this is housekeeping. Follow WDW PRO and others to see the world between worlds restart may change everything to put E7-9 on the shelf and restart…… marvel universe return, sort of.
I just want one story teller though, and ideally that’s Jon Favreau, the only one I trust, other than George.
WAH WAH WAH is all I hear from people these days. And frankly Im sick of it. Go stick your nose into a book if your so unhappy with how Star Wars has turned out. Leave it for the people who are looking for entertainment and a way to let their inner geek out, trust me I’m one of them since Im a 501st Legion member. Disney is the current owner, fact. If they want to build on these back stories in future series and build onto the anthology then let them. They are good story writers. The only series I didnt like was Acolyte but for the most part Im satisfied with what has come out.
I like the sequel trilogy, but Rise of Skywalker was the weakest by far. It did feel like it was clutching at straws with what to do with the characters. Should have just let Rian Johnson plan the whole trilogy.
I got lost in your apologetic explanations. Honoring Skywalker?? For what? He tried to ignore her and never put her through the training and apprenticeship he endured. Rey hatched out as a full blown Jedi when she touched the lightsabre! NOTHING like the reverence given to discipline and training of the other movies. When I watched it, all I saw was the forced wokenes of an empowered woman. Like Leia did not exist. As a man, it did not make me uncomfortable as the director would have preferred. I was just turned off by the absurdity of turning their back on the whole Star Wars legacy. The caveat here. I am not a big fan anyway
Ray was amazing character and the Trilogy was amazing. The only people that didn’t like it were insecure man. She didn’t need to explain why she takes the name Skywalker. Real fans understood why even without many explanations. Man childs didn’t. Unfortunately fans lost the chance to see Ray again on big screen because haters always win.

All three of the most recent trilogy need to be thrown into the dumpster and disowned.

Leia’s home was never Tatooine, it was only Luke’s. It’s important to fans that media outlets get all of the facts straight before publishing.

Really? That’s what you’re mad about? The the main characters are a girl and a black guy? Sounds like youre the problem

Rise of Skywalker was just stupid.
The last Jedi was the divisive one.

This story of reconstructing ep. 9 mentions NOTHING how audiences are to see it! In theatres? On DVD? Television? What????

You can stop beating Star Wars. It’s already dead.
I’m not sure why Disney hates Star Wars so much, but they have to get bored with defiling its corpse at some point, don’t they?
