We usually attend here on a yearly basis.. good to know the information thank you.. we won’t be visiting that part in the future.. we’re an American country… In our American dollar should be able to be spent anywhere in the United States..

    1. I have to agree with Pete and Alma. I actually find it offensive. My family and friends were going to visit Dollywood in the upcoming months. Our plans were out on hold for other reasons. After reading this, we won’t be in a hurry to rebook our vacation. The same hoes for ANY place that forces the use of credit cards! What a good way to promote debt!

      1. Charlie

It doesn’t force the use of credit cards. You can also use your debit card. That’s the same exact thing as using cash honestly. My mind is blown by everyone being so upset by this. This is the direction that everything is moving towards anyways so get used to it or just stay at home.

      2. Karen

I totally agree. I don’t want to use a credit card or put money on a card. Teach people how to handle money and be responsible and employees how to count and make change.

        1. Rick

That’s the real issue, people can’t make change without a calculator or cash register telling them.

      3. Rick

        Agree

    2. Brandon

I don’t think you need to come on here and tell everybody of your plans to never visit Dollywood again. Just because you’re an ignorant dinosaur. Been a gold member for years and the park is busier than ever….

      1. Don

Dollywood SUCKS anyway. So does Dolly. Barf!

      2. KissMyBBQ

And youre a sick individual. Leave those people alone.

    3. Charlie

So did you not understand what the article was saying? You can still bring your “American dollar” and put it onto a card in the park, therefore using/spending it. It’s not that difficult and makes more sense honestly.

    4. Rick

Absolutely! As long as paper money is legal tender in this country it should be accepted everywhere

  2. Peter

Let me get this absolutely straight. Dolly wants us to experience her childhood growing up. Wow,I would love to see her old childhood credit cards. In god we trust on my dollar bill. It’s our currency for goodness sake, and I guess I’ll spend it where they appreciate my green back.

Exactly how I feel, we should have the choice

  3. Frank

Cash is LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE. it says so right on it, so, wouldn’t this be illegal??

    1. Dale

Most places that don’t accept cash, do have a machine that can convert your dollars into a debit card for use at the location, and then cash you out at the end of your visit. It’s the future, because it is easier and less costly to be cashless, just ask Las Vegas.

    2. Rick

      Thank you!!!!!

  4. Ladibugg

I am also highly offended by this. While I do use a card to pay on occasion, I prefer cash when possible. I don’t like this slide into a forced cashless society and I won’t participate. So I guess I won’t be visiting those venues anymore.

    1. Rick

      Join the club!!!

Take your cash, purchase a gift card and everyone is happy.
Working for a company that still accepts cash, I understand the concept of going cash free. Using plastic, whether it be through credit , debit or gift cards reduces the number of hand to hand transactions that spread germs. As someone who worked through Covid and was subjected to it far more often that I’d like, I would have been grateful not to have to touch dirty money, with or without gloves, , sanitizer or soap and water. There is far more to this argument than just being a “cashless” society.

  5. Brian K.

Seems pretty simple refuse my cash , refuse my business , their loss not mine

  6. Jeff

There are a bunch of archaic comments on here. Just because you can’t use cash doesn’t automatically equate to forcing people to use credit cards. Just use a physical debit card or digital card and welcome to the 21st century.

    1. KissMyBBQ

Get a life and stop hating on these people. They are right to keep their money.

    2. Rebecca Kleitz

These people are ridiculous and probably would ruin other people’s visits with their nasty attitudes.

  7. Ryan

Wow, the snowflakes in the comments are out in force, lol! Most parks are cashless now, the fake patriots need something new to be “outraged” about. Grow up.

    1. Michele

I agree, I’m shocked that about such petty comments. There are a lot of places that don’t take cash anymore, and by the way, cash is going on its way out, starting with the penny not being made anymore, so I guess you better get used to it or you’ll never be going anywhere or spending money on anything soon.

      1. Rick

More money in my pocket..want to teach them a lesson?? Go to the checkout with loads of items and when it’s time to pay pull out your cash..when they tell you it’s not accepted just say OK and leave all the things on the counter and walk out.

    2. KissMyBBQ

      You grow up first 🤣🤣

  8. michael

I am against this based on principle, ever bill is clearly marked- “this note is legal for all debts, public & private” and refusal should be illegal. Unfortunately, government snoops love the idea of having a digital footprint of your every transaction so they can tax you into oblivion.

    1. michele

You paying to get into a park doesn’t tax you anything, the people being taxed are the ones that own or operate the amusement park. I’m sure Dolly Parton pays her taxes.

    2. Charlie

You can still bring your cash and put it onto a prepaid card when you are there. It’s not linked to you in any way other than being in your possession. Nice try but think s little harder next time.

      1. Karen

I don’t like prepaid cards and don’t want to be forced to use them. Cash should be king not plastic cards.

        1. Charlie

Well, I guess you can just enjoy staying at home pretty soon because most places are transitioning to this policy. It’s easier for everyone and much much faster. It’s also safer for the staff members to not have cash.

  9. Kiwi Colin

Didn’t the US, like most western countries around the world went cashless during the COVID pandemic? It’s just part of like in most progressive, civilised countries and businesses. Get with the times people!

    1. KissMyBBQ

We don’t give a cr@p about the changing times when the changes are dumb and the people who make them and push them are dumb. People like you should be thrown back in the western days, maybe you’d appreciate the simplicity for once.

      1. Charlie

KissMyBBQ, what are you talking about?? I guess someone forgot to take their medicine for the day. Welcome to the future honey. Most theme parks have already done this as well as many stadiums and various other locations, like it or not. So you can either get over yourself and start catching up with the times or you can feel free to just stay at home.

    2. Karen

I still used cash during the plandemic. The clue is progress. No thank you.

  10. jon

Boycott any business that refuses your cash. These forced changes won’t take place if people fight back and take action. Bad things happen when good people do nothing. Again, boycott any place that refuses cash. Ignore all idi*ts who tell you to “get with the times”. It’s your money. Let these digital age idi*ts get their privacy violated, hacked and tracked if they want. And no. I’m no “dinosaur”.

    1. Charlie

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good luck with all of that. Have fun staying at home.

    2. Rick

      Agree

cancelled a planned trip with a group of friends over this change. We are poorer and 3 of 4 live cash only was whole reason we’d picked Dolly over other options. we really can’t afford the added fees of a kiosk fee its unrealistic for us on super tight budgets. i myself live on SSI Supplemental and vantaffurd added fees thats why i have no bank cards of any kind. im also bipolar so i learned hard way credit wss dangerous for my impulsive brain. i will never use any digital banking heck i dont even use a bank at all lol. guess it’s just another place im effectively banned from by classism. ps no im not old im a millenial i love tech i justrefuse to ever put banking in digital cause hackers exist its alot harder to rob my skinny jeans pockets than hack a phone lol

    1. Charlie

I guess you didn’t read the post where it said that the kiosks would not have fees? Also, you can still bring and use cash at the main theme park, just not splash country and the Dolly hotels, which I assume you wouldn’t be staying at if you are tight on funds anyways.

  12. Adam

Looks like ill start going to other places i refuse to let a company to force others to do somthing they dont like or want to do.

  13. George hartley

    Then just dont go
…..there are tons of other theme parks….gatlinburg / pigeon forge area has just become a giant money grab
