A fan-favorite character dining experience has quietly disappeared from one Disney resort.

Character dining has long been one of the most popular ways for guests to meet Disney favorites without waiting in long lines. From Walt Disney World Resort to Shanghai Disneyland, restaurants offer meals alongside appearances from characters like Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, and Disney Princesses.

Reservations typically fill weeks in advance for the most popular spots, such as Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom. However, Disney has increased the number of locations offering character dining experiences in recent years, with the newest additions including The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge (Disney Adventure World), La Table de Lumière (Disneyland Hotel), and Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet (a dinner buffet at Storytellers Cafe in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa).

But one resort has just axed one Mickey Mouse-focused dining experience.

Mickey Mouse Character Dining Closes

At Disneyland Paris, Plaza Gardens Restaurant has officially closed to all guests.

Its closure was announced earlier this year. Disney has yet to confirm a reopening timeline, suggesting its refurbishment will be lengthy, with unconfirmed reports suggesting that it’s due to a “deteriorating building structure.”

Plaza Gardens Restaurant was the only character dining experience in Disneyland Park where guests could meet Mickey Mouse and friends. During its breakfast shift, the Victorian-styled pavilion welcomed the likes of Mickey and Minnie, alongside Tigger, Goofy, Pinocchio, Pluto, and more.

With its closure, the only full-blown Mickey Mouse-oriented character dining experience at Disneyland Paris is the Royal Banquet at Disneyland Hotel. There, guests can pay €100 ($115) per adult or €50 ($58) per child to meet Mickey, Minnie, and more in their royal attire. However, guests have criticized the experience for charging such a high price tag while squeezing diners “like sardines” into a tight space.

Alternatively, Mickey Mouse has been added to Auberge de Cendrillon.

This fairy-tale character dining experience is typically anchored by princesses such as Snow White, Aurora, and Cinderella. However, during the temporary closure of Plaza Gardens, Mickey Mouse has taken up residence at Auberge de Cendrillon, appearing in a brand-new costume featuring a feathered hat and a blue, purple, and yellow waistcoat.

Our friends at @Cave0fWonders shared photos of Mickey Mouse in his new outfit at Auberge de Cendrillon in Disneyland Paris. As Plaza Gardens Restaurant will be closing tonight for a year-long refurbishment, Mickey will now be making appearances with the Disney Princesses here. 💫

However, it’s worth noting that Auberge de Cendrillon is considerably more expensive than Plaza Gardens. Guests hoping to meet Mickey Mouse during a meal at the restaurant – which only offers lunch and dinner after previously axing its short-lived breakfast shift – will need to pay €100 ($115) per adult or €50 ($58) per child. In comparison, breakfast at Plaza Gardens was  €50 ($58) per adult or €40 ($46) per child as of 2025.

Table service dining is markedly more expensive at Disneyland Paris than at Disneyland Resort or Disney World.

The French resort’s newest in-park Disney princess experience, The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge, also costs €100 ($115) per adult or €50 ($58) per child. Meanwhile, at Disney World, dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table costs $89 per adult and $54 per child, while dining with Winnie the Pooh and friends at Crystal Palace will set you back $64 per adult and $44 per child.

Over on the West Coast, Storytellers Cafe Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa costs $69 per adult and $39 per child. The only in-park character dining experience – breakfast with Minnie and friends at Plaza Inn – costs $55 per adult and $33 per child.
