Disney fans who plan their evenings around nighttime entertainment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios may want to take a second look at their schedules. One of the park’s biggest shows is shifting in a noticeable way, and while it might not seem like a huge change at first glance, it’s going to affect how a lot of guests approach their day.

For a while now, Fantasmic! has served as the grand finale for many park visits. It’s the moment when crowds gather, snacks in hand, ready to wind down after a long day of rides, Lightning Lane reservations, and navigating wait times. But now, that familiar rhythm is changing—and it’s happening quickly.
Fantasmic! Is Moving Later Into the Night
Beginning April 24, 2026, Fantasmic! is no longer sticking with its earlier evening slot. Instead, the show is shifting to a later start time across the board.
Up until recently, guests had gotten used to an 8:30 p.m. performance time, which made it relatively easy to plan dinner, squeeze in a few last rides, and still catch the show without feeling rushed. That window is now closing.
The new standard performance time is 9:00 p.m. each night. It’s only a 30-minute difference on paper, but in a theme park setting, that half hour can completely change how the evening flows.
And for guests visiting on busier nights, there’s an additional wrinkle.
Extra Showtimes Add Flexibility—But Only Sometimes
On select nights—specifically Fridays and Saturdays through May 9—Disney is adding a second Fantasmic! performance at 10:30 p.m.
At first, that sounds like a win. More showtimes usually mean more flexibility, and it can help spread out crowds that would otherwise all rush into the amphitheater at once. Guests who prefer a quieter experience may opt for the later showing, while others might still try to secure a spot for the earlier one.

But the catch is that this second performance isn’t permanent. It’s tied to a specific timeframe and likely reflects expected crowd levels during that stretch. Once those dates pass, the late-night option could disappear, putting even more pressure on that single 9:00 p.m. showtime.
Another Subtle Shift Is Already Scheduled
If you’re planning a trip later in the summer, there’s yet another small adjustment to keep in mind.
Starting June 14, Fantasmic! will move slightly again—this time to a 9:05 p.m. start.
It’s a minor tweak, but it reinforces a broader pattern. Disney is actively fine-tuning show schedules, likely based on park hours, sunset timing, and crowd behavior. These aren’t random changes. They’re calculated.
There’s also at least one confirmed exception to the schedule: the show will not be performed on June 18 due to an early park closure for a private event.
For guests visiting that day, that’s a big deal. Fantasmic! is often a must-do, and missing it entirely can reshape how the day feels.
Why This Change Matters More Than It Seems
On the surface, moving a show back by 30 minutes might not sound like a headline-worthy update. But in a park like Hollywood Studios, where nighttime entertainment plays a major role in crowd flow, it has ripple effects.
A later Fantasmic! means guests are staying in the park longer. That can lead to extended wait times for popular attractions late into the evening, especially for rides like Tower of Terror or Slinky Dog Dash. It also changes how people approach dinner reservations and mobile orders, since many will now push those plans later.

For families with younger kids, the shift could be even more noticeable. A 9:00 p.m. or 9:05 p.m. showtime pushes the experience closer to bedtime territory, which may lead some guests to skip it altogether or leave early.
At the same time, others may see this as an opportunity.
A New Strategy for Park Nights
With Fantasmic! starting later, there’s now a larger window to take advantage of shorter wait times during the evening. Some experienced guests may choose to ride attractions while others are lining up for the show, then catch a later performance if available.
On nights with only one showing, it becomes more of a balancing act. Do you grab a seat early to ensure a good view? Or do you push your luck, fit in one more ride, and hope you can still find a spot?
Disney’s decision effectively reshapes that strategy.
It also opens the door for more relaxed pacing earlier in the evening. Guests no longer feel the same pressure to rush through dinner or cut experiences short just to make it to an 8:30 show.
The Bigger Picture at Hollywood Studios
This change doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Hollywood Studios has been evolving steadily, with updates to attractions, entertainment offerings, and overall park flow.
Adjusting Fantasmic!’s schedule is part of that larger effort to manage crowds and enhance the guest experience—at least from an operational standpoint. By pushing the show later, Disney can spread out demand across the evening and keep guests engaged in the park for a longer period.

It also aligns better with seasonal daylight changes. As sunsets shift later into the evening, a later Fantasmic! ensures the show maintains its full visual impact, which relies heavily on darkness for its effects.
What Guests Should Do Now
If you’re planning a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the coming weeks or months, it’s worth double-checking the entertainment schedule before your trip. Don’t assume Fantasmic! will run at the same time you remember.

Consider how the later showtime fits into your overall plan. You may want to adjust dining reservations, rethink your Lightning Lane selections, or even plan for a mid-day break if you’re aiming to stay late.
And if catching Fantasmic! is a priority, arriving early is still your best bet—especially on nights with only one performance.
A Small Change With a Real Impact
Disney didn’t make a loud announcement about this shift, and that’s part of what makes it easy to overlook. But once you’re in the park, the difference becomes clear.
The later start time changes the energy of the night. It stretches the day just a bit longer. And for a show that already plays such a central role in the Hollywood Studios experience, that’s enough to make a real impact.
Whether this ends up being a welcome adjustment or a frustrating one will likely depend on how guests adapt. But one thing is certain: if Fantasmic! is part of your plan, timing matters now more than ever.
