Months after the closure of a PhotoPass studio at Magic Kingdom Park and weeks after Walt Disney World Resort filed construction permits for the space, the first signs of active construction work have appeared at the popular location in Fantasyland. Here’s what Central Florida Disney Park guests need to know.

In September 2025, the PhotoPass studio inside Sir Mickey’s in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park closed. The photography space was mainly used for guests after visiting the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and its closure aligned with Walt Disney World Resort overhauling of the makeover experience. Now, guests line up to visit with the Fairy Godmother after transforming into a Disney Princess or Prince, rather than waiting for a photography session at Sir Mickey’s.

A curtain has blocked the former PhotoPass studio ever since. Walt Disney World Resort filed construction permits to install set and prop elements and scenic design, including a six-foot wall, but there have been no visible signs of active work in the Fantasyland area for the past seven months.

This week, everything changed.

On April 15, WDWNT reported that five towering white poles appeared above the curtains blocking the former PhotoPass studio inside Sir Mickey’s. The outlet shared this photo of the space on Facebook:

The poles don’t reach the ceiling, but they could be the start of the infrastructure for the new wall inside Sir Mickey’s. Guests can still shop and explore the rest of the Fantasyland merchandise location.

Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t announced any plans for the space or commented on the construction. It could become a backstage area for Disney cast members, inaccessible to Magic Kingdom Park guests.
