Ahsoka Tano is one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars franchise, but she certainly had to earn her place among greats such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Yoda, Han Solo, Darth Vader, and Chewbacca.
Ashley Eckstein’s Ahsoka Tano Appearances
After her debut in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in which she was voiced by Ashley Eckstein, she returned as a lead character in the long-running series of the same name, which ran for seven seasons until 2020.

Eckstein would voice the character in other animated shows such as Rebels (2014–2018), Star Wars Forces of Destiny (2017–2018), Tales of the Jedi (2022), and the Lego Star Wars miniseries Rebuild the Galaxy (2024) and its 2025 follow-up.
She also appeared in the video game Disney Infinity 3.0. and narrated the Ahsoka novel by E. K. Johnston.
12 years after her debut, Ahsoka, who had become popular with fans, was brought to life in live action in The Mandalorian Season 2, in which she was played by Rosario Dawson, who returned for the spinoff series Ahsoka in 2023, which has a second season in development.

The Clone Wars Returns With a New Face
However, despite appearing in several other projects after her debut, from animation to games and novels to live-action shows, Ahsoka’s most popular project is still The Clone Wars. Now, that series is getting an official follow-up in the form of Maul — Shadow Lord.
The upcoming Disney+ series, which premieres on April 6 with a two-episode event, is the fourth animated Star Wars series since The Clone Wars to adopt the same visual style, following The Bad Batch (2021) and the three Tales Of (2022) anthology seasons.

Per StarWars.com, Maul – Shadow Lord is “set after the events of The Clone Wars” and finds Maul plotting “to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire.”
But while it follows on from The Clone Wars and sees actor Sam Witwer return to voice the titular Sith, it has a new cast of supporting characters. Among them is Devon Izara (Gideon Adlon), who appears to be shaping up to become the successor to the beloved Ahsoka Tano.

Who is Devon Izara?
In Maul – Shadow Lord, the Twi-lek Jedi is on the run following Order 66, however, she winds up being targeted by Maul as a potential new apprentice.
Unsurprisingly, Devon quickly drew comparisons to Ahsoka Tano following the first trailer for the series, not only due to their physical similarities (Gideon Adlon also sounds like Ashley Eckstein), but also because of her relationship with the disgraced Sith Lord, Maul.
While there’s a lot we don’t know, in The Clone Wars Season 7’s Siege of Mandalore arc, Maul tries to tempt Ahsoka to join the dark side and help him to reshape the galaxy.

“On the run from the Empire, Devon Izara is conflicted,” the character’s description on StarWars.com reads. “Living in hiding to survive in challenging times, she must adapt and accept a future far different than the one she expected for herself.”
Now, Lucasfilm has released the second official trailer for the new series, and we get to see a lot more from Devon Izara this time around. Watch it below:
With all that said, it remains to be seen whether Devon will ever be as popular as Ahsoka.
The Togruta Jedi took years to become a fan-favorite after her 2008 debut, but one thing’s for sure — sharing the spotlight with a character like Maul will certainly help Devon Izara.

Maul – Shadow Lord stars Sam Witwer (Maul), Richard Ayoade (Two-Boots), Vanessa Marshall (Rook Kast), Chris Diamantopoulos (Looti Vario), A.J. LoCascio (Marrok), David W. Collins (Spybot), Steve Blum (Icarus), Gideon Adlon (Devon Izara), Wagner Moura (Brander Lawson), Dennis Haysbert (Master Eeko-Dio-Daki), and Charlie Bushnell (Rylee Lawson).
