Attraction Disappears From Germany Pavilion at EPCOT
On March 25, WDWNT reported that a pressed penny machine had disappeared from its usual spot in the Germany World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. The interactive souvenir dispenser previously sat inside the enclosed entryway of the Biergarten Table-Service dining location, and the ground is still discolored from its time there. The outlet shared this photo of the empty spot where the pressed penny kiosk usually sits on Facebook:
The missing pressed penny machine dispenses several designs, including one inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) that is exclusive to the Germany World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT.
Walt Disney World Resort has not publicly acknowledged the removal of the pressed penny machine or indicated whether it will return. The United States Mint discontinued the production of the one-cent coin in November 2025. Still, Disney continues to premiere new designs at its theme parks, hotels, and shopping districts, including a recent design inspired by the transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The End of Pressed Pennies?
While plenty of pennies remain in circulation across the United States, many machines throughout Walt Disney World Resort accept cards or bills, allowing guests to pay without pennies. Some more modern dispensers even use plain copper discs instead of actual currency, rendering the retirement of the one-cent coin irrelevant for the popular Disney Park souvenir.
There are hundreds of pressed penny machines throughout Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, so it’s likely that the one in the Germany World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT is simply out for maintenance or for the installation of a new design.
