Good news, Muppets fans: Disney is restoring Muppet*Vision 3D.
Muppet*Vision 3D opened in 1991 as part of what was then known as Disney-MGM Studios, developed with direct involvement from Jim Henson shortly before his death. The attraction blended 3D film, in-theater effects, and live-action gags, positioning the Muppets as anarchic hosts rather than passive characters.

Located in Grand Avenue, the show followed Kermit the Frog unveiling Muppet Labs’ latest invention, predictably descending into chaos courtesy of Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Gonzo. Its humor relied on practical effects, fourth-wall breaks, and repeatable jokes rather than spectacle.
But sadly, as Disney pushes ahead with its $60 billion investments across its theme parks and experiences, Muppet*Vision 3D was announced as a necessary sacrifice. The show came to an end at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in May 2025 to make way for the park’s upcoming Monsters, Inc. land, complete with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster.
Soon, however, fans can experience the show in a whole new way.
New Way to Experience Muppet*Vision 3D On The Way
Brian Henson, son of Jim Henson and Chairperson of The Jim Henson Company, has revealed that Muppet*Vision 3D will be available for Apple Vision Pro users. Its availability will later be expanded to other VR headsets, too (via Apple Insider).
During a Q&A after Puppet Up!, Henson’s improv comedy show starring puppeteers, Henson revealed that the show had been thoroughly captured for the VR experience and that users will be able to watch the show from any seat, meaning they can enjoy multiple different experiences.

Henson also joked, “It’s better than it not coming to VR.”
This isn’t totally new information. After confirming its closure, Disney noted that it would explore ways to preserve Muppet*Vision 3D. Before it closed for good, Disney cast members attended a private recording of the show.
Could Muppet*Vision 3D Return to Disney’s Theme Parks?
Earlier this year, Disney debuted a rebooted version of The Muppets Show on Disney+. While it was presented as a standalone special – executive produced by Seth Rogen and starring singer, actress, and Miss Piggy rival Sabrina Carpenter – the general understanding was that its success would open the door to a full series order.
The show ultimately attracted 7.58 million viewers in its first eight days across Disney+ and ABC, placing it firmly in “success” territory.
Fans noted a Muppet*Vision 3D reference during the show in the form of a “Muppet Lab Techs Only” sign.

Many have expressed hope that the project’s success could lead to Disney restoring Muppet*Vision 3D in one of its theme parks. The most obvious location feels like Disney California Adventure, where guests could previously enjoy the show in Hollywood Land before it was replaced by For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.
The same space is now occupied by Mickey’s PhilharMagic. However, considering the fact that you can enjoy the show at every Disney resort across the globe (except Shanghai Disneyland), it wouldn’t feel like a massive loss if it were ousted in favor of Muppet*Vision 3D.
For now, our only confirmed upcoming Muppets project in the theme parks is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, which will arrive at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in place of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith later this year.
