It was a rough morning for guests at EPCOT, as the recently reimagined Test Track attraction experienced extended downtime and then repeatedly struggled with maintenance issues after opening, resulting in a standby wait time much longer than posted. Here’s what we know about the technical issues affecting the World Discovery neighborhood attraction and how they’re impacting families visiting Walt Disney World Resort.

At Destination D23 2023, Walt Disney World Resort announced plans to reimagine Test Track at EPCOT for the third time, bringing the car simulation experience into the modern era. The ride closed in 2024 and reopened on July 22, 2025, debuting the first-ever in-vehicle technology, advanced scenic design, and improved car-simulation testing. Of course, it still features the same finale: a thrilling 65-mph outdoor loop.

Technical Issues on Thursday

Unfortunately, as with any advanced Disney Park attraction, the new technology on Test Track doesn’t always work as intended. On Thursday,  the ride failed to open alongside EPCOT. According to BlueSky user WDWStats, which tracks ride downtime at Walt Disney World Resort, the attraction remained closed for around 90 minutes.

Sadly, the troubles didn’t end there. When Test Track reopened, guests flocked to the attraction, and the standby wait time ballooned. Reddit user u/snampally was one of the Disney Park guests who hopped in line for the World Discovery neighborhood ride shortly before 10:30 a.m.

“At 10.20am, I fell for the trap,” the Walt Disney World Resort guest wrote. “I noticed 30 min wait for ‘Test Track’ ride and I flocked in like everyone else.”

Nearly two hours later, that “30-minute wait” hadn’t ended. Test Track reportedly experienced several technical issues and operational pauses.

“Its 12.15pm right now, we are still waiting in line wirh atleast 10 more minutes wait bTest Track Closed at EPCOT After Repeated Mechanical Failuresefore we can hop on the ride,” the Reddit user said. “We’ve had one ‘temporary close’ which was communicated by fellow riders as they walked back in the lanes.”

Disney cast members didn’t share any information about the mechanical issues.

“We heard the ‘delayed ride’ message 3 times, which has not given any useful information about the delay,” the guest concluded. “Just the generic ‘we’re experiencing some issues, there will be a delay. Apologies.’”

Walt Disney World Resort didn’t issue any statements about the issues with Test Track on February 19.
