One Walt Disney World Resort guest may have overindulged in the New Year’s Eve celebrations at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In the early morning hours of January 1, 2026, local law enforcement responded to reports of a reckless, wrong-way driver on a roadway near the Central Florida Disney parks. Here’s everything we know about the emergency call and subsequent response.

Shortly after 4:15 a.m. on Thursday, local authorities received an emergency call about a “reckless” driver going the wrong way near Osceola Parkway and Victory Way, minutes from several Walt Disney World Resort theme parks and hotels. X (formerly known as Twitter) account @WDWActiveCrime, which tracks and reports scanner activity in and around the Central Florida Disney property, shared the following information about the 911 call:

🚨 Police Alert 🚓 – 1/01/26 4:18 AM
🚨: Reckless Driver Wrong-Way at 📍: Osceola Pkwy & Victory Way

It’s unclear whether the driver involved in this incident was intoxicated, though it’s very possible given the New Year’s Eve celebrations throughout Walt Disney World Resort that ended just hours earlier. Local authorities haven’t issued a police report identifying the driver or indicating whether an arrest was made.

Fortunately, the incident occurred when all four Disney parks and Disney Springs were closed, and before most guests wake up for Early Theme Park Entry, transportation to the airport, or an early start on the long drive home. It doesn’t appear that any vehicle accidents resulted from this reckless, wrong-way driver.

Despite the limited public information about the reckless, wrong-way driver at Walt Disney World Resort on New Year’s Day, it’s completely safe to drive to Walt Disney World Resort or take theme park transportation at this time. Exercise standard precautions, follow all traffic laws, obey the speed limit, and pull over/provide ample space if you witness a law enforcement response while on the road.
