Operations took a massive hit at two Disney parks today.

It takes a lot to disrupt the operations at Disney, but it’s not impossible. From the COVID-19 pandemic to earthquakes and hurricanes , every Disney theme park across the globe has experienced an unprecedented closure at one point or another.

This holiday season is no exception. Increment weather has impacted multiple Disney parks, with both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure closing early on Christmas Eve due to an intense “atmospheric river” storm in Southern California.

Meanwhile, Walt Disney World Resort shuttered its water park, Typhoon Lagoon , for several days as low temperatures swept through the Sunshine State.

Heavy Snowfall Causes Chaos at Disney Parks

Further afield, Tokyo Disney Resort has struggled through its operating day.

Today (January 2), both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have experienced heavy snowfall . As per guests, the two parks – often considered some of the best Disney parks in the world – were struck by blizzard-like conditions thanks to the combination of snow and wind, leaving the ground extremely slippery.

There are moments when the strong wind makes the area in front of Maihama Station feel like a blizzard.

Also, it’s extremely slippery.

Both parks were forced to shutter some outdoor attractions early due to the conditions.

This includes Big Thunder Mountain, Gadget’s Go Coaster, Chip ‘n Dale’s Treehouse, and Jungle Cruise : Wildlife Expeditions at Tokyo Disneyland. Over at Tokyo DisneySea, the list of impacted attractions includes AquaTopia, Raging Spirits, and Jasmine’s Flying Carpets.

The entrance announcement was also adjusted at the two parks to instead warn guests that “the ground has become slippery.”

Select paths were closed at both parks due to the snowfall.

Fortunately, not everything is out of action, with indoor attractions such as Pooh’s Hunny Hunt , Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, and Toy Story Mania operating as usual.

The Disney Resort Line, aka Tokyo Disney Resort’s paid monorail service, is also unaffected.

While the snow can interfere with operations, there’s no denying that it makes a pretty addition to Disney parks.

Guests shared videos of the snow in Arendelle, the Frozen (2013)-themed area within Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasy Springs land.

No more snow is forecast for the Urayasu area for the foreseeable future. However, Disneyland Paris is also predicted to see snow next week.
