While a lot of planning is often required to ensure your Disney day is as magical as possible, you can never truly know what to expect while visiting Disneyland or Walt Disney World.
With so many classic rides ranging from slow-moving boat rides to exhilarating roller coasters, there’s no telling what a morning, day, or night will bring at the Disney parks. Of course, there’s lots of shopping and dining to be done as well, but for most, it’s the rides that are the biggest draw.
Despite the colder weather, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is one of the most popular rides at the parks currently. Featuring Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, and a whole host of musically-inclined critters, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a fun trip down the bayou featuring more than a few drops and a catchy soundtrack to sing along to.
Water rides are a special category of attraction, as Disney only offers a handful that can be considered “thrilling.” Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is arguably the most intense, featuring a 50-foot drop. This drop can be seen from the outside, giving guests walking by the ride something to look forward to before they hop aboard.
However, earlier this month, this drop looked quite different. As shared by Critter Club on X, the final drop on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure had no water running down it.

Water or no water, the ride’s final drop operates the same way, but it will never not be wild to see it empty as guests take the final plunge.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened on November 15, 2024, at Disneyland Park, ushering in a new era for the park’s Critter Country as well as Disneyland Resort as a whole. With the story of Princess Tiana set in the bayou, Disneyland opted to overhaul its Critter Country, transforming it into Bayou Country.
The area looks and feels mostly as it did before the takeover, with a few notable changes, such as the addition of a new shop.
Walt Disney World’s version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened in June of the same year, and much like Disneyland, it transformed a once-iconic area inside the Magic Kingdom into something completely new.
Both versions of the attraction have become very popular among guests, though for hardcore fans, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure remains one of he most controversial and divisive projects Disney Imagineering has ever worked on.
Disney first announced Tiana’s Bayou Adventure years ago, confirming its legendary Splash Mountain log flume ride would shut down permanently. Despite its popularity and status, Splash Mountain was inspired by an extremely controversial Disney film from 1946 called Song of the South.
The film has essentially been removed from Disney’s catalog, although old copies of Song of the South can still be found on third-party sites. A debate about Splash Mountain had been brewing for years prior, with some assuming the attraction was untouchable.
However, the legend of Splash Mountain came to an end in 2023 when the water ride closed for good at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
