A man was recently removed from a Disney theme park after his choice of outfit triggered backlash from some guests.
Like all theme parks, Disney parks have strict rules that maintain both safety and magic. While the details can differ slightly from park to park, every Disney property has rules dictating what guests can and cannot wear on Mickey Mouse’s turf.

For example, at Walt Disney World Resort, guests aged 14 and over are not allowed to dress as Disney characters (with the exception of ticketed events, such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party). Prohibited clothing for all guests includes “excessively torn clothing,” “clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment,” “clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics,” and “clothing that touches or drags on the ground.”
Similar rules are enforced at Disneyland Resort, with guests denied entry or stopped by security in the past for wearing the likes of a supposedly gory Halloween-themed shirt, a Deadpool costume, and a t-shirt bearing the Palestinian flag.

Disney parks further afield stick to similarly tight restrictions, as proven by an incident that unfolded at Hong Kong Disneyland in November.
Man Denied Entry to Disney Park
According to a video shared on TikTok (or, as it is known in China, Douyin), a guest arrived at Hong Kong Disneyland dressed in what appeared to be a Japanese military uniform.
Two TikTokers shared a mini vlog from the theme park – home to the likes of World of Frozen, Mystic Manor, and Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars – in which they spotted a man outside the entrance in the uniform.

One of the TikTokers – who, according to local news site United Daily News, is Chinese-Russian – noted that they felt uncomfortable, questioning why they would choose to wear the uniform at the park. They then showed security cast members stopping the man, who was seemingly not allowed into the park.
“It cheered me up,” one TikToker is shown saying in the video. “More than a dozen security guards arrived in just three minutes! Thumbs up for Hong Kong Disneyland!”
United Daily News reports that fans were divided by the decision. Some claimed that the couple was trying to exploit a current wave of escalating tensions between China and Japan for views, while others argued that Hong Kong Disneyland security appropriately handled the situation.

The publication also quoted local Hong Kong residents as criticizing the man’s decision to wear the costume, considering the region’s history.
“Do you really think it’s okay to wear Japanese military uniforms to a theme park like this?” one said.
Another said, “Wearing Nazi uniforms in Europe wouldn’t be acceptable either.”
On a section of its website titled Inappropriate Clothing, Hong Kong Disneyland emphasizes that its park is a “casual, family-oriented environment.” It also clarifies that “attire that is not appropriate for the parks … may result in refusal of admittance.”
