Walt Disney World will be down two significant experiences starting in January.

Walt Disney World’s collection of rides, attractions, and transportation methods is arguably unmatched. From essential bus and boat services to classic dark rides, there’s a lot for guests to ride during their time at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.
Disney isn’t immune to temporary closures, however, as several big-ticket rides and attractions are set to close for refurbishment in 2026. One of these closures is Frozen Ever After, a Frozen-themed dark ride located inside EPCOT’s World Showcase.

The ride will close for refurbishment beginning January 26 and will not reopen until an undetermined date in February.
Despite being nearly a decade old at this point, Frozen Ever After still ranks as one of the most popular attractions in Walt Disney World, let alone in EPCOT. The water ride was repurposed from EPCOT’s original troll-filled, Norwegian-themed adventure, Maelstrom.
Unsurprisingly, Frozen Ever After is exceptionally popular among younger guests, as it takes riders through iconic scenes from the original animated film.
Disney Skyliner

Walt Disney World’s other major closure affects those looking to travel aboard the resort’s Skyliner. The skybuckets will come to a halt starting January 25, but will return online just a few days later on January 31.
The Disney Skyliner typically closes for maintenance at the start of the year and is already scheduled to close during the same time in 2027.
The Disney Skyliner made its debut back in 2019, forever changing not just how guests get around the parks, but also how they see them. Passengers can hop aboard for a round trip to and from EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as a selection of resort hotels like Caribbean Beach, Art of Animation, and Pop Century.
There are plenty more closures in store for the rest of Walt Disney World in 2026, with several experiences closing permanently.
DINOSAUR, Animal Kingdom’s ferocious and thrilling dark ride, along with the rest of DinoLand U.S.A., will become extinct in February as Disney moves to transform this area into a new Tropical Americas location
Several classic rides, attractions, and locations shut down permanently earlier this year, including Magic Kingdom’s Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and Liberty Square Riverboat, as well as Hollywood Studios’ Muppets Courtyard.
Just like Animal Kingdom, Disney plans to revitalize these locations in big ways, with two new Pixar-inspired expansions currently in development.
