On the morning of Sunday, December 21, law enforcement responded to a reported “reckless” driver barreling the wrong way down a roadway near Disney Springs.

The outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex wasn’t open at the time of the emergency response, but early bird vacationers leaving or arriving for their Walt Disney World Resort vacations were undoubtedly put at risk. Here’s what Inside the Magic can confirm about the incident so far.

Shortly after 6:15 a.m. on December 21, local authorities responded to a 911 call about a “reckless driver” going the wrong way near the intersection of East Buena Vista Drive & Live Oak Drive at Walt Disney World Resort. This roadway is closest to the Disney Springs shopping and dining district, and is popular with guests traveling to and from their Disney Resort hotels.

The news came from X (formerly known as Twitter) account @WDWActiveCrime, which tracks and reports law enforcement scanner reports across the Central Florida Disney parks:

Local law enforcement has not indicated whether the reckless driver was apprehended or continued driving away from Walt Disney World Resort, but no traffic accidents were reported as a result. A police report about the incident may become available in the next few days, but no information has been made public yet. Walt Disney World Resort has not issued a statement about the emergency response.

Guests planning visits to Walt Disney World Resort on Sunday shouldn’t anticipate any impacts from this law enforcement response. Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney Springs are operating normally.

However, anyone who encounters first responders or Disney security during their visit should always follow all verbal or posted instructions and avoid any areas that are blocked off.
