Disney’s iconic Boardwalk is undergoing significant changes. Several stores and restaurants are closing without any replacements. While these storefronts have closed, Disney has not announced any replacements, leaving large empty spaces on the Boardwalk.

Jellyrolls, the dueling piano bar, closed early this year on the Boardwalk. While the bar has vowed to reopen somewhere else on Disney’s property, there have been no further announcements on when that might occur.
Without Jellyrolls, a large building at the end of the Boardwalk would remain open without anything new coming to replace it. Jellyrolls was also one of the few bars in the EPCOT resort area that stayed open well after the parks closed, leaving another hole for guests to fill.

With that large building, any number of new bars or restaurants could occupy that space. However, Disney still has not announced anything new.
Closer to the center of the Boardwalk, the Big River Grille and Brewing Company closed last year. Again, this left a significant hole in the Boardwalk, and Disney has yet to announce a replacement.

Disney’s Promenade Fine Art Gallery also closed in late October. No information has been provided on whether the gallery will relocate elsewhere on Disney’s property or if it is closing permanently.
Since the end of October, three buildings on Disney’s Boardwalk will be empty, and there are no signs of Disney putting anything new in those spaces.
However, Disney added a surprise for guests this week by opening a new snack stand on the Boardwalk. The stand just happened to appear on the Boardwalk one day without any prior announcement from Disney. The new stand replaces the Funnel Cake Stand, which has been closed for months.

The new stand, which currently lacks a name, offers a typical selection of snack fare, including popcorn, churros, pretzels, and ice cream, as well as some alcoholic beverages. While it’s not a mind-blowing new experience, it is something to replace the formerly closed kiosk on the Boardwalk.
Disney still has a lot of work to do to get the Boardwalk back to its former glory, but the opening of the new snack stand lets us know that they haven’t forgotten it.
