The post quickly gained traction as fans speculated on what was happening, especially since Universal rarely shutters any part of its resort without warning. The message cited “inclement weather” and directed guests to check the resort’s website or call for updates, leaving many to wonder how serious the situation was.
Guests checking the official park hours calendar noticed something odd: one of the resort’s parks had gone completely gray. No operating hours were listed for Monday, November 10, or Tuesday, November 11. That instantly fueled rumors that the entire resort might be scaling back operations due to weather concerns—something nearly unheard of during this time of year.
Why Universal Is Taking Precautions
While Orlando is known for its warm, sunny climate, the forecast for the start of the week paints a different picture. Monday’s high is only expected to reach around 70 degrees, and Tuesday—a federal holiday—will dip even further, with a high of just 58 degrees.
That kind of chill may not bother visitors heading to Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure, but it poses challenges for another park where the main attraction is… water.
Universal confirmed that Volcano Bay will remain closed on November 10 and 11 due to the cold front moving through Central Florida. The park will also observe its regularly scheduled seasonal closures on November 12 and 13 before reopening Friday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The timing of this temporary shutdown overlaps with Veterans Day, meaning some families visiting for the long weekend will need to adjust their plans.
Universal reassured guests that its two theme parks—Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure—will continue operating as normal. However, the water park’s closure underscores just how unpredictable Florida weather can be, even in November.
