A lot is happening at Disney’s theme parks, though it may surprise fans to learn that Disneyland Paris may be changing the most. From large-scale projects, such as adding new locations for guests to explore, to more minor, thematic updates to classic areas, there’s never been a time like the present for Disney’s one and only European-themed park resort.

Just recently, Disneyland Paris announced an updated timeline for some of these upcoming projects.

According to various news outlets, the resort’s new McDonald’s location will open in early 2026. Disney Wonders, a new shop that replaces the Disney Store, will also open in 2026. Casa Giulia will end in 2026.

While this is all exciting, perhaps the most interesting project is Disneyland Paris’ upcoming new ride based on The Lion King.

This not only marks the first time the iconic animated Disney film will have its own major theme park attraction, but it also marks the first log flume experience to open at Disneyland Paris. The attraction will be located inside Disney Adventure World, and the new name will be given to Walt Disney Studios Park.

“Brought to life through state-of-the-art special effects and advanced Audio-Animatronics technology, this new attraction will be one of the biggest at Disneyland Paris,” says Disney, “featuring three exciting slopes – including an impressive 52-foot-high descent! ”

As we mentioned, Disneyland Paris is not the only Disney resort undergoing major changes. Guests visiting Disney’s domestic theme parks have likely noticed the substantial amount of construction and refurbishment taking place at locations like Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Disney California Adventure.

Walt Disney World is especially exciting to keep tabs on, with three of the resort’s four theme parks all set to receive their own new land. Magic Kingdom will eventually be home to a new Cars-themed hub called Piston Peak, which will feature several new attractions.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will introduce a new land, also based on a Pixar franchise, this time featuring Mike and Sully. Named Monstropolis, this new Monsters Inc.-inspired land will transform a decades-old section of the park. Once open, Monstropolis will feature a suspended roller coaster, along with other smaller attractions.

Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand U.S.A. continues to change. The first half of the prehistoric land closed permanently this January, with the rest set to go extinct in February 2026.

This area will eventually become Tropical Americas, a new land that will be home to several attractions, including a family experience based on Encanto, and a thrill ride inspired by Indiana Jones.
