There’s never truly a “bad” time to take a trip to Walt Disney World, though the resort does get a little extra magical during certain times of the year. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was a big hit, as it is every year, and now all eyes and ears are aimed toward Magic Kingdom’s Christmas event.
During the holidays, Walt Disney World gets decked out in all kinds of festive gear, with parties planned for both Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
However, Thanksgiving is also a very popular and very magical day to spend at Walt Disney World. Everyone’s favorite turkey-themed holiday is a sight to behold at Disney World, with limited-time dining and merchandise options available to those spending the day at the parks.
Of course, visitors can choose to enjoy Walt Disney World’s selection of rides and attractions as they normally would, though, as guests would see, one in particular would encounter a very shocking malfunction.
Problem Inside Carousel of Progress
Shared on Reddit by Frozen_cephalod, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress suffered a very upsetting, but also hilarious, malfunction with one of its animatronics, specifically Patricia, the daughter.
The animatronic lost its hand, which remained attached to the wheel in front of her. It’s unclear how or when this happened, but it made for an unforgettable experience for those sitting in the theater.
“Gotta be careful with those old timey appliances, doncha know,” joked one user.
“Hopefully when this goes down for the refurbishment they give all the animatronics some needed attention. I love this ride,” said another.

Carousel of Progress has been serving up trips back in time since it opened at Magic Kingdom in 1975. The attraction can be found at the back of the park’s Tomorrowland.
While certainly not one of Magic Kingdom’s more popular or intense attractions, Carousel of Progress is without a doubt one of the park’s most iconic. The 20-minute show takes guests through different eras of American history, starting with the turn of the century.
The next stop is the 1920s, followed by the 1940s. The show ends with a finale that takes place sometime in the 21st century. The attraction has been updated several times over the years, mostly in an attempt to keep the final scene as “contemporary” as possible, though as time continues to move on, this has been a big challenge for Walt Disney Imagineering.
The attraction is set to undergo a significant refurbishment next year, which will see the arrival of updated scenes and new effects.
