Since opening in 2018, Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has remained one of the most colorful, energetic, and popular corners of Walt Disney World.

Designed to make guests feel as if they’ve been shrunk down to the size of a toy in Andy’s backyard, the land is packed with vibrant oversized props, fan-favorite characters, and attractions like Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Toy Story Mania.

At the heart of it all sits Woody’s Lunchbox—a quick-service restaurant that’s become a go-to stop for grilled sandwiches, tater tot creations, and a fan-favorite breakfast menu.

Now, that iconic eatery is about to get some attention from Imagineering.

Construction Continues in Toy Story Land

Disney has officially filed a new permit for “general construction” at Woody’s Lunchbox, signaling that updates are on the way. The permit is attributed to Walt Disney Imagineering, the creative division responsible for bringing Disney Parks to life, which suggests that this isn’t just a routine refurbishment. While the details are still vague, it’s clear that some level of visual or structural change is coming to the restaurant.

The update follows another construction project in the land—an all-new snack kiosk that’s currently being added near the entrance. With that expansion underway, it seems Disney is taking the opportunity to refresh additional parts of Toy Story Land while crews are already on site.

What’s Changing at Woody’s Lunchbox?

From what we know so far, the changes to Woody’s Lunchbox aren’t expected to be dramatic. Fans shouldn’t worry about the location being reimagined or replaced. Instead, it appears to be a round of cosmetic updates—think refreshed paint, maybe a few themed décor upgrades, and possibly a reconfiguration of the ordering or seating area to improve guest flow.

These small but meaningful updates are often part of Disney’s ongoing strategy to enhance guest experience without completely shutting down fan-favorite areas. And in a land as consistently packed as Toy Story Land, any improvement that helps manage crowds or adds shade is likely to be welcomed with open arms.

However, it should be noted that this could lead to short-term inconvenience, such as reduced space for a time or rearranged seating areas.

Why Now?

It’s no secret that Toy Story Land, despite its immense popularity, has drawn some criticism for its lack of shade and limited dining options. Woody’s Lunchbox, while charming, has minimal covered seating and can become extremely congested during peak meal times. With new offerings on the way—like the new snack kiosk—it makes sense for Imagineering to revisit the land’s only restaurant and give it a little TLC.

This isn’t the first time Disney has added updates to the land. In recent years, the Roundup Rodeo BBQ table-service restaurant opened near the entrance, giving guests a much-needed indoor option. That addition was a major step in addressing guest feedback. The new round of changes appears to continue that trend.

What Guests Should Know When Visiting Hollywood Studios

For now, Woody’s Lunchbox remains open and operational. Disney has not announced any planned closures tied to the permit filing. That could mean any construction work will happen behind the scenes or after hours, so it doesn’t interfere with the restaurant’s normal schedule.

Still, guests planning a trip to Toy Story Land over the coming weeks might notice construction walls, crews, or minor reroutes around the area. It’s all part of the process as Disney continues to invest in keeping its parks fresh, immersive, and enjoyable.

Outside of the Toy Story Land construction, several other areas in the theme park are being updated. First, there’s Monsters Inc. Land that is being constructed, where Muppet*Vision 3-D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano used to stand.

In addition, The Magic of Disney Animation is expected to open next year, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close down in 2026 to make way for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.
