From exploring classic dark rides like Haunted Mansion to embarking on intense mountain adventures on Expedition Everest, there’s a lot of thrills and chills to be had at Walt Disney World.

Not only is Walt Disney World home to dozens of classic and innovative attractions, guests will also find a number of incredible live shows and nighttime spectaculars during their trips. Nothing beats capping off a long day at Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios with fireworks or one last spin on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Each of Disney World’s four theme parks is great in its own way, though Magic Kingdom is undoubtedly the most famous and popular. With so many legendary rides ranging from “It’s a Small World” and Pirates of the Caribbean to Space Mountain and Peter Pan’s Flight, it’s no wonder so many people choose to spend their precious vacation days inside this massive and magical castle park.

However, just because it’s the busiest doesn’t make it the best, as there’s actually an argument to be made that Magic Kingdom is the worst park at Walt Disney World.

Firstly, Magic Kingdom sees the biggest crowds. This makes navigating the park harder than EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. Larger crowds also mean longer wait times. Guests can expect to wait upwards of 30 minutes for pretty much every ride and attraction at Magic Kingdom, with heavy-hitters like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and TRON Lightcycle / Run easily surpassing an hour or two.

Magic Kingdom is also incredibly large. Walking from Frontierland to Tomorrowland is no small task. Neither is navigating from The Tiki Room to Haunted Mansion.

If guests are planning on visiting Magic Kingdom, they need to be ready to do some serious walking.

Magic Kingdom is also missing a number of attractions and features right now, namely Tom Sawyer Island. While never the most popular experience offered at Disney’s original Florida theme park, this interactive playground based on Mark Twain’s writings added a lot of authenticity to Magic Kingdom, something that is now beloved by fans around the world.

This area, along with the Rivers of America and Liberty Square Riverboat, closed permanently this summer to make way for Piston Peak, a new area of the park inspired by Pixar’s Cars series.

This means that for the next few years, visitors to Magic Kingdom can expect to see and hear construction in the middle of Frontierland.

Magic Kingdom is also Walt Disney World’s most expensive theme park. This likely is not surprising considering its popularity, but those on a budget may want to consider Disney World’s three other parks.

All this to say, there’s really no bad park at Walt Disney World. But there’s certainly a lot of magic to be found outside of the Magic Kingdom.
