Fans have officially taken their frustration to the next level.

After years of speculation and quiet campaigns, supporters of the canceled The Hunt for Ben Solo project are now planning to stage a full-scale protest against Disney. What started as a passionate online movement has evolved into a real-world rally designed to send a very loud message: fans want this film made.

The Project That Never Saw the Light of Day

The Hunt for Ben Solo was originally envisioned as a continuation of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), with Adam Driver’s Ben Solo surviving the film’s ending and embarking on a redemption journey. Driver had reportedly teamed up with acclaimed filmmaker Steven Soderbergh to develop the story, which received initial support from Lucasfilm and then-president Kathleen Kennedy.

But despite a finished script and early momentum, the project was ultimately axed in 2021. The decision reportedly came from Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, who declined to greenlight production.

A Movement That Just Won’t Die

For years, fans held out hope that the project might be revived. But in October 2025, Driver publicly confirmed the movie’s existence for the first time—reigniting the fire. Within days, a massive digital campaign under the hashtag #SaveTheHuntForBenSolo flooded X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and fan forums.

Then came the billboard. A fan-funded Times Square display went live, flashing the campaign message every 28 minutes on rotation. It was a bold, very public reminder that Star Wars fans aren’t ready to let this story go.

From Billboards to Real-World Action

Now, things are escalating. According to posts circulating on social media, fans are organizing protests at Disney’s main offices in Burbank and New York City. The demonstrations are expected to coincide with Disney’s Q4 shareholders’ meeting in early November, with potential rally dates already circulating online.

Early polls shared by organizers suggest November 8–13 as the target window for these rallies. Supporters are framing the protest not just as a call to revive The Hunt for Ben Solo but as a demand for Disney to listen to longtime Star Wars fans who feel sidelined by recent creative decisions.

Why This Story Hits So Deep

Ben Solo’s character arc has always been one of the most divisive elements of the sequel trilogy. While The Rise of Skywalker ended with his sacrifice, many fans felt that it was abrupt and unsatisfying—cutting off one of the saga’s most compelling redemption stories. The proposed film would have followed him as he tried to atone for his actions as Kylo Ren, offering the kind of narrative closure that fans say they never got.

To many, Disney’s refusal to move forward with the film represents a missed opportunity—not just for storytelling, but for reconnecting with a fanbase that has grown increasingly disillusioned.

What Comes Next

So far, Disney hasn’t publicly responded to the renewed pressure campaign. The company is currently focused on upcoming Star Wars projects like The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) and Star Wars: Starfighter (2027). But with billboards flying over Disney Studios and planned rallies gaining momentum, it’s clear this isn’t going away quietly.

Whether or not Disney reconsiders, the movement around The Hunt for Ben Solo has become a major moment in modern fan activism—proof that the Star Wars community knows how to make itself heard.
