The Halloween franchise is far from finished scaring audiences. Not only is there an official television reboot currently in development under Miramax, which promises to reimagine Michael Myers’ story for a new generation, but recently, game studio IllFonic unveiled its own take on Haddonfield with its upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer title “Halloween”, set for release in September 2026.
But before either project arrives, fans can get their fix with a new entry that’s now free to watch online.

A feature-length fan film titled Halloween: Aftermath has just premiered on YouTube, landing perfectly ahead of the spooky holiday. Released on October 17, 2025, the unofficial movie has already earned more than 250,000 views in its first two days online.
Running 2 hours and 15 minutes, Halloween: Aftermath is directed by James Grim and written by Cole Tatham, produced under A63 Pictures and Grimnox Productions.

Kameron Gaxiola stars as Michael Myers, AKA “The Shape,” continuing the legacy of the silent killer within the continuity established by David Gordon Green’s Halloween reboot trilogy, which starred James Jude Courtney as the Haddonfield bogeyman, a role that has been played by numerous actors over the years.
The filmmakers describe their project as “an unofficial, yet extremely ambitious and high-quality fan film set within the timeline established back in [Halloween] 2018.”

Set between Halloween Kills (2021) and Halloween Ends (2022), the story takes place in October 2020 and follows a new character named Cole Dalton (Ryan Jaske) — a survivor of the 2018 Haddonfield massacre — as he struggles to recover from his trauma.
“The Shape has vanished,” the blurb reads, but adds that “evil is always near.” The team also adds that the film is “a slow journey through trauma, fear, resilience.”

“After more than three years of hard, dedicated work, blood, sweat, and tears, we’re proud and thrilled to release Halloween: Aftermath,” the filmmakers said. However, they stress that it’s “a non-commercial fan film” made “purely out of love for the franchise.”
As Halloween prepares for its official return through Miramax’s TV series and IllFonic’s upcoming game, Halloween: Aftermath shows that fans are keeping the spirit alive — and with it, the bogeyman himself.
What sets this fan film apart from others is its quality—for the most part, it feels like a true Halloween movie. In fact, it’s so good that it’s surprisingly easy to think of it as being canon with David Gordon Green’s trilogy.
