Few cinematic locations are as instantly recognizable as the Visitor Center in Jurassic Park (1993). From the skeletal dinosaur display in the atrium to the high-tech lab where eggs first cracked open, it remains etched into pop culture.
With “Jurassic Park: Survival,” developers Universal and Saber Interactive are inviting fans not just to revisit these iconic spaces, but also to discover what lies behind the doors we never opened in 1993.
The Game Awards 2023 trailer teased glimpses of familiar spots, including the stainless-steel kitchen where Lex and Tim evaded raptors, and the crumbling atrium where the T. rex saved the day. But a recent behind-the-scenes look confirms an even more ambitious tour: players will also explore the Visitor Center’s movie theater—seemingly complete with Mr. DNA’s cheerful educational film, according to a brief tease—and the laboratories where the secrets of genetic resurrection were hidden.

Jurassic World Project Executive Lisa St. Amand explains how every inch of the building has been reconsidered: “We worked really closely with our partners with Amblin and our filmmakers to make sure that we’re capturing the island and all the dinosaurs in really great detail,” she says. For the team, the challenge is about more than just accuracy—it’s about extending the cinematic world that exists off screen while staying true to the film’s familiar foundations.
Fans can also expect the surrounding island to feel just as expansive. Jungle paths snake toward enclosures, docks, tunnels, and even unfinished attractions like the hotel teased during development of the original park. As Executive Producer at Universal Products & Experiences John Melchior puts it: “Fans are going to see things and landmarks that they only wish they saw; some elements from the film that were talked about but were never actually conceived.”

The project team even visited surviving film sets, such as the incubator room, to ground their designs in practical detail. For players, that means walking through Isla Nublar won’t just feel authentic—it will feel lived-in, a blend of nostalgia and discovery.
“Jurassic Park: Survival” may not have a release date yet, but it’s shaping up as the most faithful expansion of Steven Spielberg’s world to date. More than 30 years later, the Visitor Center’s doors are finally open again.
“Jurassic Park: Survival” will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. There’s no release date for the game. Visit the official website for more information.
