Following the success of Jurassic World Rebirth this summer, fans can expect even more dinosaur action from the long-running franchise — but they won’t have to wait long.
The seventh film in the series, which stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali in the lead roles, grossed $862 million worldwide. While it received mixed to negative reviews from audiences and critics, that won’t stop Universal Pictures from currently hatching up ideas for future sequels. And now, it seems they’ve already started.

According to the entertainment industry insider Daniel Richtman (via SFFGazette.com), “A new Jurassic World movie with [Johansson] as the lead again is already in the works.”
While Universal is yet to confirm anything, with $862 million in its pocket, Jurassic World Rebirth will undoubtedly get a follow-up, and an official announcement is likely imminent.

With all that said, the film doesn’t exactly leave the door open for future installments in the same way the previous Jurassic World movies did.
“This film, to me, really felt like it’s singular. It’s its own piece,” Johansson said in an interview earlier this year. “And you hope that this film stands on its own without the support of the films that come before and that it doesn’t need to extend beyond what it is.”

“I mean, the film is called Rebirth, of course, but Gareth [Edwards, director], and I think Frank [Marshall, producer] and Steven [Spielberg, executive producer] and all the creatives on this project, wanted to establish this film as its own contained, standalone thing.”
She added, “I’m a massive Jurassic universe fan, and there’s certainly a lot of wonderful nostalgic winks or nods or Easter eggs or whatever you want to call them to Steven’s movies and the Jurassic films that have been previous to this, I think the hope is that if you’ve never seen any of the other Jurassics, this is the one. That’s the goal, anyway.”
Nevertheless, we’re sure the writers will “find a way”.

Meanwhile, three other Jurassic Park/World sequels have been confirmed.
There’s “Jurassic World Evolution 3,” the next entry in the hugely popular park management video game series. It hits shelves on October 21, and the trailer can be viewed below:
Another upcoming game is the first-person action-adventure “Jurassic Park: Survival,” which puts players in the shoes of InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi (played by Payal Mistry), as she must navigate Isla Nublar in the immediate aftermath of the events of the 1993 film.
Universal and developers Saber Interactive recently unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette, which showcases gameplay, dinosaurs, and more:
