There’s a lot happening at Walt Disney World Resort, so much in fact, it can be hard to keep up. Disney recently wrapped up its Destination D23 event, which saw the company deliver a treasure trove of news, both relating to its collection of theme parks as well as new details about the future of the Marvel and Star Wars universes.

One of the biggest announcements involves Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. In 2020, the iconic white and blue castle was given a makeover, debuting a new, more vibrant pink and dark blue aesthetic. This change was somewhat controversial, with some arguing the original was better.

It’s been a hotly debated topic ever since, with Disney confirming this weekend that the castle would return to its original color palette.

Other announcements included more information about the future of Disney Cruise Line and teasers about what’s in store for places like Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.

However, a smaller change is taking place at EPCOT, one which could actually affect your trip.

EPCOT is currently resurfacing sections of its parking lot. While this won’t affect everyone traveling to the park, it could still change your morning or night. EPCOT’s Moana parking lot area is being reworked and is now blocked off.

Overall, this change could mean a slower start to your day due to cast members re-routing drivers. It’s unclear how long this project will take to wrap up, so guests should expect parking at EPCOT to look a little different for the time being.

Of course, guests traveling by bus or Monorail will not have to worry about this change in parking, just those driving their own personal vehicles to EPCOT.

As we mentioned, there’s a lot happening at Walt Disney World, though EPCOT is a lot quieter than Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. These three theme parks are all set to get new lands, rides, and attractions in the coming years.

EPCOT is a different story. Sure, the park is receiving some much-needed updates like Spaceship Earth’s ongoing refurbishment, but in general, EPCOT will remain the way it is for the foreseeable future. The park finished its years-long transformation last summer, wrapping up a lengthy and tumultuous saga that started pre-COVID.

Disney’s vision for EPCOT is here, whether guests like it or not. The same cannot be said for places like Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where construction, demolition, and everything in between can be heard and seen around the parks.
