Disney+ launched back in 2019, and despite showing up quite late to the streaming party compared to competitors like Netflix and Prime Video, Disney’s in-house streaming platform has managed to carve out a large corner of the market for itself.

It seems The Walt Disney Company is tailor-made for its own streaming service, as Disney’s streaming platform has over 120 million users today. Not only does Disney have an extensive catalog of classic animated films at its disposal, but it also has the worlds of Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe at its fingertips.

However, as with any streaming service, near-limitless content comes at a price, and Disney+ is about to go up.

Disney+ will increase subscription prices on October 21. The standalone plan that comes with ads will increase in price by $2 to $11.99. The premium plan, which does not come with ads, will increase by $3 to $18.99

The bundle that includes Hulu and Disney+ with ads will increase from $10.99 to $12.99, while the bundle without ads will remain the same at $19.99.

The Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select Bundle with ads is increasing from $16.99 to $19.99. However, unlike the regular premium bundle, the ad-free version of the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select bundle will increase in price from $26.99 to $29.99.

Both versions of the Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max Bundles will increase, too, with the ad version increasing from $16.99 to $19.99 and the ad-free version increasing from $29.99 to $32.99.

In other news, during an earnings call earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Hulu will merge with the Disney+ app.

“We are building on Disney’s value proposition in streaming by combining Hulu into Disney+ to create a unified app experience featuring branded and general entertainment, news, and sports,” said Iger. “[This merger] will be a one-of-a-kind entertainment destination for subscribers.”

This news follows lots of speculation about what could happen between Disney+ and Hulu. Back in 2023, Disney began adding Hulu content to Disney+. After holding an initial stake in the company, Disney took full control of Hulu. This news means that Disney+ users can see all of their Hulu content on the Disney+ app.

The standalone Hulu app is expected to shut down by the end of 2026.
