While James Bond fans wait for news about Amazon MGM’s upcoming film reboot that’s being directed by Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Dune: Part Two), written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), and produced Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and David Heyman (the Harry Potter films), there’s another 007 installment that’s set to arrive first.

Earlier this year, developers IO Interactive unveiled the first trailer for their third-person action-adventure “007 First Light”, which marks Bond’s first major return to consoles in over a decade. Irish actor Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) slips into the tux and picks up the PPK in a new origin story that follows Bond on his journey to acquire his 00 status.

The New James Bond Game Could Beat “GoldenEye”

007 fans who have been eager to get their hands on a video game entry that rivals the 1997 Nintendo 64 FPS classic “GoldenEye” finally have a reason to be excited. However, “First Light” doesn’t just feature a new James Bond — it also reimagines other iconic MI6 characters such as M, Miss Moneypenny, and Q, while introducing a new villain in the form of a rogue 00 agent.

As for the new James Bond film, the search for the titular superspy continues. On the big screen, the next actor will be the seventh to play 007 in the mainline films, following Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.

As revealed at the end of the new trailer, “007 First Light” will be released on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows on March 27, 2026.
