Walt Disney World Resort has announced a major refurbishment that will impact guests staying at a Magic Kingdom area Disney Resort hotel this fall. Beginning in early October, construction crews will be reimagining the lobby at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds.
Last week, Walt Disney World Resort added the following notice to the booking page for Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds: “From early October through early November, 2025, the lobby at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will undergo renovations. Guests may hear or see maintenance in the area until work is complete, and the check-in area may be moved to a modified location nearby. Upon arrival, please follow posted signage and reach out to a Cast Member if assistance is needed.”

Other resort amenities, like pools, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long, will not be affected by the upcoming lobby refurbishment at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds. Watercraft and bus transportation to Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney Springs will remain available.
This is the latest in a slew of lobby refurbishments at several Disney Resort hotels in Central Florida. Construction is wrapping up in the lobby at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and a modernized food court and gift shop have already reopened. At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Walt Disney Imagineers are developing the hotel’s first-ever lobby bar and installing new, Victorian-inspired custom fixtures. Construction barricades recently surrounded the lobby furniture at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, shortly after crews finished a maintenance project in the nearby BouTiki gift shop.

Last year, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds introduced its controversial new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) cabins. The updated lodging offers a modernized version of the rustic Disney Resort hotel accommodations, though they’re far from rustic prices. The Fort Wilderness cabins, which sleep up to six, are some of the most expensive overnight accommodations at Walt Disney World Resort.

Walt Disney World Resort has yet to say whether the new lobby at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Spa will be modernized like the updated cabins. Follow Inside the Magic for updates on this and other projects around the Central Florida Disney parks!
