A major Lightning Lane policy change is coming to Walt Disney World Resort on September 11, 2025. The update will impact Lightning Lane Multi Pass (LLMP) access at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where the paid line-skipping service often ranges between $20 and $35 per guest.

In May, the refreshed The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure show debuted in Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The modernized version of Voyage of the Little Mermaid features upgraded puppetry, magical special effects, and awe-inspiring performances that truly transport Disney Park guests “Under the Sea.”

For the first few months, guests could only access The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure by waiting in the standby queue. Even though the show performs every 40 minutes for most of the day, the lack of Lightning Lane access meant Disney Park guests were waiting up to half an hour to potentially get worse seats than they’d hoped. However, that’s all about to change.

Last month, Walt Disney World Resort announced plans to add The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure to Lightning Lane Multi Pass at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The show is an LLMP Tier 2 selection, meaning that guests can book it (and another Tier 2 attraction) in advance.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has four Tier 1 LLMP selections: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, and Slinky Dog Dash. Guests can only select one of these attractions in advance when planning their Disney’s Hollywood Studios visit.

On September 11, The Little Mermaid –  A Musical Adventure officially joins these Tier 2 LLMP attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Alien Swirling Saucers, Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Star Tours, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania!.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is only available as a separate Lightning Lane Single Pass purchase. Priority access to the Fantasmic! nighttime spectacular is typically limited to guests with paid dining packages.
