It’s been just over a year since Six Flags and Cedar Fair merged, creating the largest theme park company in the world. Since then, things haven’t been great.

A decline in travel to the United States and Americans cutting back on their domestic travel has impacted the theme park giant, with a double-digit decline in attendance during the first quarter of this year. Six Flags has already confirmed that Six Flags America in Maryland will shut down after this season; however, rumors are flying that the company plans to shutter other parks.
While Six Flags has denied these rumors, the company’s decision to start canceling some of its Halloween events at parks nationwide doesn’t help. Then, there are the parks themselves.

Since the merger, customers have complained about the decline in Six Flags’ parks, including a lack of staffing and security. While Six Flags did add a chaperone policy at all its parks, there are still issues and complaints about fights and groups of young people creating havoc in the parks. This latest story won’t help to deflect from that narrative. A new video on social media shows a brawl that took place at Six Flags New England recently. In the video, there are several different fights between what appear to be two separate groups of people over a 3-5 minute span in the same area. https://twitter.com/Tr00peRR/status/1951440450608570821 It is unclear what started this fight or its eventual end, as the video cuts off, but it shows several different angles over that period. Something is noticeable: no security presence. Throughout the ordeal, no security guards or police can be seen trying to defuse the situation or arrest those fighting. Many commentators wondered why security did not respond to the situation unfolding in a heavily trafficked area. Other commentators said that this was common for a Six Flags park.

One commenter wrote:
It’s been so bad this year! The violence had gotten bad last year but this year it’s just too much. We don’t plan on renewing our passes after this year. There’s too many disrespectful people. no one follows the rules and even the kids are disrespectful they run wild, cut lines and are mouthy.
Six Flags has not commented on the fight or whether those involved have been banned from parks, nor has the company commented on its security. This incident shows that the company may need to invest more money in keeping its guests safe from each other. Have you seen a fight at a Six Flags theme park? Let us know in the comments.
