Universal Orlando Resort is home to several fan-favorite rides and historically significant attractions. Rides like E.T. Adventure and Jurassic Park River Adventure have entertained guests for decades, though newer additions certainly pack a punch.

Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure are some of the park’s most popular rides, though Revenge of the Mummy remains one of the biggest fan favorites. This thrilling and intense experience blurs the line between immersive dark ride and intense roller coaster, sending guests on an adventure unlike any other.

Revenge of the Mummy has been around since 2004, though the coaster has certainly undergone some updates over the years. In fact, earlier this summer, the coaster saw an update to its queue safety video, prompting some chatter online among fans.

Revenge of the Mummy Gets New Safety Video Ahead of Closure

Guests waiting in line for Revenge of the Mummy may notice the ride has received a new safety video. Theme park enthusiast Ethan Hershaft spotted the change and shared a clip of the new video on Twitter.

This new safety update comes ahead of the ride’s brief refurbishment, which will last from August 11 through August 13. It’s unknown why the attraction is closing exactly, though considering it will only be out of service for three days, significant changes are not expected for Revenge of the Mummy.

This year is a big one for Universal Orlando Resort. On May 22, Epic Universe officially opened, expanding Universal Studios’ footprint in Orlando significantly. The new theme park features a number of rides and attractions to enjoy, as well as a few places to grab a bite to eat and meet some iconic characters.

This year will also see the closure of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, a legendary roller coaster that has been a part of Universal Studios Florida for 15 years. While certainly not a favorite of all riders, Rip Ride Rockit has grown to become an icon of not just Universal Studios but the entire Florida theme park scene.

The coaster will permanently shut down on August 18. Universal’s plans for the ride’s rehabilitation remain a mystery, though there are rumblings of a potential Ghostbusters-themed attraction.

It’s also possible guests will hear news of an expansion for Epic Universe this year. Paperwork for a major expansion was filed earlier this summer. Again, exact details are unknown about this project, but some fans are hopeful this is the long-rumored Legend of Zelda expansion.
