Sunglass Icon by Sunglass Hut has closed at its Downtown Disney location. The smaller-scale shopping location has served as the flagship Sunglass Hut at Downtown Disney since 2011.
Shoppers can find Sunglass Icon at the east end of Downtown Disney, though walls now cover the store.
This closure seems rather abrupt, as Sunglass Icon is still listed as open on the official Downtown Disney website.
According to Theme Park IQ, a permit was filed for the store earlier this year. The permit lists improvements to the building, including the relocation of a restroom and general mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance.
Sunglass Icon at Downtown Disney, which closed recently for remodel, is not listed on the refurbishment calendar, likely due to the fact there are two kiosks currently open.
The permit states:
DTD – Sunglass Hut – Building H #104 – Tenant Improvement: 1,244 sq ft interior…

Disneyland is home to plenty of classic rides and thrilling attractions, but Downtown Disney bridges the gap between guests’ time away from the parks. Downtown Disney features dozens of world-famous shopping destinations and eateries to enjoy. Top brands include Sunglass Hut, LEGO, Curl Surf, Lovepop, PANDORA Jewelry, and Sephora.
Walt Disney World offers its own shopping and dining hub, Disney Springs, which operates similarly to Disneyland’s Downtown Disney. Disney Springs was previously called Downtown Disney before its large-scale renovation in 2015.
Downtown Disney is also getting its own Lululemon storefront, which is expected to open later this year.

This isn’t the only way the Disneyland Resort is expanding. Earlier this year, Disney shared more details regarding Disneyland’s upcoming Avatar land.
Pandora – The World of Avatar has been a hit ever since it opened at Walt Disney World in 2017, with Disney setting its sights on the West Coast for the next iteration. To make room for the Na’vi, Disneyland will close Monsters Inc. Mike & Sully to the Rescue.
This classic dark ride has been part of Disney California Adventure for nearly 20 years and, despite not being very complex or groundbreaking, has managed to generate a relatively large fandom.
The dark ride will close permanently in 2026, at which point work will officially begin on Disneyland’s Avatar expansion.
