In 2024, then-former President Donald Trump was poised to run for office against then-President Joe Biden. However, just four months before the election, Joe Biden dropped out of the race, and then-Vice President Kamala Harris was thrust into the presidential campaign spotlight.
Throughout her short but very intense campaign, Harris received a number of notable endorsements from celebrities, including Zoe Saldaña, Julia Roberts, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Aniston, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Springsteen, and Taylor Swift.
However, those endorsements were not enough to win Harris the election, and she ended up losing the popular vote by approximately two million votes.

Despite winning both the Electoral College and the popular vote, Donald Trump is still mad about the 2024 election.
In a recent post on his social media website, Truth Social, Trump accused the Harris campaign of making large, illegal payments to multiple celebrities, including Oprah, Reverend Al Sharpton, and Beyoncé. He demanded that they all be prosecuted for accepting the payments.
I’m looking at the large amount of money owed by the Democrats, after the Presidential Election, and the fact that they admit to paying, probably illegally, Eleven Million Dollars to singer Beyoncé for an ENDORSEMENT (she never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!), Three Million Dollars for “expenses,” to Oprah, Six Hundred Thousand Dollars to very low rated TV “anchor,” Al Sharpton (a total lightweight!), and others to be named for doing, absolutely NOTHING! These ridiculous fees were incorrectly stated in the books and records. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO. Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them. All hell would break out! Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Now, that sounds really bad, but it is very important to note one thing — it is not true.
While Beyoncé did perform at a Kamala Harris rally in Houston in October 2024, she was not paid $11 million for her attendance or endorsement.
According to campaign finance records viewed by CNN, the songstress and Lion King (2019) actress’s production company was paid a total of $165,000. It was a payment that the Harris campaign was required to make due to campaign finance law.
Per a report from Deadline:
Federal Election Commission rules require campaigns to pay the fair market value for the ancillary costs of holding events — everything from staging to the band to food and drink.
Federal law prohibits corporations from giving directly to a candidate’s campaign, so it would be up to the campaign to reimburse those costs. A performer could pick up the tab herself, but according to the FEC, “when a person or entity pays for services on the committee’s behalf, the payment is an in-kind contribution.”

FEC rules further state that the value of something like a performance by Beyoncé is treated the same as a cash donation when it comes to federal contribution limits.
Individuals were allowed to give up to $3,300 directly to a candidate, and as much as $926,300 to a joint fundraising committee supporting the campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and affiliated state parties.
Beyoncé has not responded to the false claims made against her by Mr. Trump.
What do you think celebrities should do when false accusations are made against them by people in positions of power, like Donald Trump? Do you think they should sue him for defamation, libel, and/or slander? Or should they ignore the things being said about them? Let us know what you think about this situation in the comments!
