Have you heard the news about one of Disney World’s most infamous restaurants?

There’s a lot to enjoy at Walt Disney World, with the resort featuring a near-endless selection of savory meals, sweet treats, and everything in between. Things are especially sweet right now, with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in full effect, allowing guests to try a variety of ghoulish items for a limited time.

While there are several places to have an incredible meal at Disney World, the resort also offers a lot of candy, chocolate, and other confectionery concoctions. Perhaps the most iconic dessert at the theme parks is the classic Mickey Bar, a chocolate shell-covered ice cream treat.

Other fan-favorites are churros and DOLE Whips, though those looking for cake are in luck, too, if they have the stomach (and wallet) for it.

The Cake Bake Shop arrived at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort last year after a somewhat tumultuous construction process. Demolition on The BoardWalk’s old ESPN Club continued through 2022, with The Cake Bake Shop originally set to open in 2023. However, the sweet treat shop faced numerous delays.

Finally, in October 2024, The Cake Bake Shop opened, debuting to mixed reactions from guests. Many visitors praised the location’s actual selection of cakes and other food items, but the restaurant’s prices are what have caused the most controversy.

In Walt Disney World, nothing is “cheap,” though The Cake Bake Shop takes things to a whole new level. Guests were stunned when the menu and prices were first revealed last year for the shop, with eggs Benedict priced at $34 and crab cakes at $52.

The actual dessert is expensive, too. Prices have since changed, but when The Cake Bake Shop first opened, slices of chocolate mousse, peanut butter pie, and key lime pie were $21 and $18, respectively.

The steak frites au poivre is one of the restaurant’s most luxurious and expensive items. This 12-oz New York Strip Steak comes with cognac green peppercorn sauce and sells for $59.00. A classic burger costs $28.

These high prices align with the rising cost of other goods and services in Walt Disney World. This year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is priced between $119 and $229, a big increase over last year’s event. Other items, like food and drink, as well as park tickets, have seen bumps in recent years, too.

Still, even with its high prices, The Cake Bake Shop has proven to be a hit, so much so that the eatery was named one of Orlando’s most popular locations.

In a new Instagram post from The Cake Bake Shop, the store reveals it was recognized as one of Orlando, Florida’s most booked spots, according to popular dining reservation service OpenTable.

Becoming one of Orlando’s most popular destinations is quite impressive, considering the shop has only been open around 10 months.

“To reach this milestone in just 10 months since opening is truly special,” reads the caption to the post. “This location is the third restaurant and bakery I’ve personally built from the ground up, and it remains independently owned and family run, something that fills me with pride for both my family and my incredible team. My heartfelt thanks to every guest who visits, celebrates, and supports us. Your loyalty and love are what make achievements like this possible.”

The Cake Bake Shop was created by Gwendolyn Rogers, who personally designed and built each location.
