The D23 Expo kicks off this morning with panels on Disney’s upcoming film slate and updates from Disney Parks around the world during various panels. However, this morning started with a look at what Pixar has in store for the next few years.

Pixar started by previewing its upcoming slate of films, including Hoppers (March 26), Toy Story 5 (June 2026), Gatto (June 2027), Incredibles 3, and Coco 2. For the event, Pixar busted out a brief clip from Hoppers for the assembled audience to wet their pallet for Pixar’s next film.
However, the main attraction of the morning panel was a preview of Toy Story 5, including a brief opening scene from the film. In the scene, 50 Buzz Lightyears are trapped on an island and have to find a way to work together to get back to Star Command.
The preview also introduced some new characters, including a Potty Training toy voiced by Conan O’Brien. The preview also teased that Buzz will be the villain in the film after getting caught in a malfunctioning play mode.

Pixar is banking on 2026 as a solid year for the studio after yet another flop with 2025’s Elio. Last year’s Inside Out 2 was the studio’s first billion-dollar hit since before the pandemic, and it’s been years since the studio had a hit with an original film.
With fans’ reactions to what they saw of Gatto generally positive, although the room was filmed with excited Disney fans, so it’s hard to believe they’d have a negative reaction to anything Disney does, Pixar hopes to break its original films’ jinx next year. Even if things don’t work out with Gatto, Toy Story 5 will surely be a monster hit for the summer.
Beyond its Pixar previews, Disney also announced that it would be doing a red overlay for Tron: Lightcycle/Run at Disney World starting September 15 for the release of Tron: Ares. Disney also gave a no information look at Avengers: Doomsday with the Russo Brothers filming and showed a brief clip from The Mandalorian and Grogu. The same clip fans saw at the Star Wars Celebration earlier this year.
We will continue to update this story as more information comes out at the D23 Expo.
