Hollywood Studios’ Construction Projects Make It That Much Harder To Get Around the Park

Disney’s Hollywood Studios always felt more crowded than Disney World’s other parks. Perhaps it was the park’s design or that there were sections of the park that just didn’t function well, like Animation Courtyard.

It also didn’t help that the park’s two most popular lands, Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, feel somewhat segregated from the rest of the park. Hollywood Studios just doesn’t have the flow that Magic Kingdom and EPCOT do.

All of that is, hopefully, about to change. Disney has introduced sweeping changes at Hollywood Studios that will bring Monsters, Inc. and a new animation experience to the park, but in the meantime, guests will struggle to get around the park.

For the next couple of years, construction walls will overtake the park, making getting around all the more difficult. On top of that, Disney fans will lose their areas of refuge during those hot summer days.

The construction at the former Muppets Courtyard not only removed a fan favorite ride but also a cool place for guests to relax for a few minutes in the A/C and enjoy the Muppets. The loss of Star Wars: Launch Bay takes away another place for a quick stop.

Beyond losing the A/C, getting around the park will be much more difficult. Construction walls around the Animation Courtyard will create a bottleneck on the path to Toy Story Land.

Speaking of Toy Story Land, a mystery construction project is happening right now, narrowing the walkway between Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. And now, that construction has spilled into Galaxy’s Edge.

Disney promised that the construction in Animation Courtyard will conclude in 2026, but that doesn’t necessarily narrow it down. Speaking of 2026, construction on the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is expected to start in 2026 as the Muppets take over the ride.

So, if you’re counting, that’s three major construction projects at Hollywood Studios in 2026, closing large portions of the park and blocking walkways, and that doesn’t include whatever is happening in Galaxy’s Edge.

This will make Disney World’s most disjointed park feel even worse and make it even more difficult for guests to get around. So, while Hollywood Studios is getting a major makeover, it will hurt while it’s getting there.
