While a day at Disney can be filled with fun, it takes work to maintain the magic. A lot goes on behind the scenes at places like Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Employees, known as cast members, work hard to make sure everything is running in tip top shape. If they do their job well, guests won’t even notice.

However, guests also have some responsibility. Visitors are expected to behave appropriately and, more importantly, wear the right kinds of clothes. If they don’t, they risk being asked to change or even leave the parks.

TikTok travel influencer @sohpiesm1th_ recently shared a video highlighting five things guests are prohibited from wearing or showing off while visiting Disneyland Paris.

No Costumes

Sophie explained that guests cannot wear costumes while visiting the park. This rule goes for all of Disney’s parks and is put in place so that it is easier to distinguish between guests and employees.

“At Disneyland Paris, costumes are only allowed for guests 12 and under,” Sophie stated. “Disney is not a cosplay convention. They want children to believe in real Disney-trained characters.”

If travelers were allowed to dress just like Cinderella, Belle, or any other iconic character, Disney runs the risk of guests getting confused about who works at the park and who is just visiting.

Barring guests from being able to dress exactly like employees helps ensure everyone remains safe and informed.

No Clothes on the Ground

Next on Sophie’s list is anything long, including clothing that drags on the ground. This can include anything from long dresses to capes. Put simply, this is a safety hazard, especially aboard rides. Not only can loose fabric be a safety hazard for the guest wearing the clothes, but it can also be a tripping hazard for nearby travelers.

“Anything with excessive fabric, like capes or long trains,” she said, “security might ask you to pin it up or even deny you entry.

Improper Clothing

This should come as no surprise. Guests are not allowed to wear anything inappropriate or improper. This means visitors aren’t allowed to strip down to their swimsuit or underwear even if it’s an extremely hot day. While this might sound silly, some guests actually do try to enter the Disney parks in their skivvies.

“You have to wear proper clothing at all times — so no, you can’t walk around in a bikini top even when it’s hot,” Sophie said. “And shoes are required at all times so please keep your dogs under wraps.”

While this sounds intuitive, you’d be surprised just how often this rule gets broken. Multiple travelers have gone viral online for being denied entry or being asked to change at Disney.

Offensive Clothing

This next item on this list goes hand in hand with #3. Guests are not allowed to wear anything improper, but they also aren’t allowed to wear anything that can be deemed as offensive. Travelers should steer clear of wearing anything with offensive language or images on it, as they will most definitely be asked to leave.

Political items are also not recommended, though this category has a little more leeway. There’s been numerous discussions from fans about wether or not Disney should ban all political imagery from its parks.

Inappropriate Tattoos

While not an article of clothing, Disneyland Paris still wants to keep its parks clean and family-friendly. As a result, offensive or improper tattoos are not allowed in the parks.

Just like Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Disney’s European theme park resort has rules about what its guests can and can’t wear. Disney’s dress code policy is always a hot topic of discussion within the community, with fans debating whether or not Disney should allow certain items.
As more people continue to pour into the parks, the boundaries continue to get pushed. Social media certainly doesn’t help, with some people simply trying to go viral. In the past few months, we’ve seen multiple guests deliberately wear prohibited clothes just to see what would happen.
Sometimes, they don’t make it past the gate. Others are informed they have to change or leave well after they entered the park.

Do any of these items surprise you? Have you ever visited Disneyland Paris?
