From thrilling new roller coasters to exciting lands to explore, there have been a lot of significant changes at Walt Disney World over the last few years. The resort saw one of its biggest updates in 2017 with the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar.

This highly detailed and immersive land set a new bar, not just for Disney but for the entire themed entertainment industry. The same can be said about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which debuted in 2019 at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Galaxy’s Edge also set a new bar, primarily thanks to its incredible dark ride, Rise of the Resistance, which is often touted as the best theme park attraction in the world.

However, not everything Disney has done in the last few years has been a hit. This is most evident with Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive, resort/hotel hybrid experience that sought to transport guests into their own Star Wars adventures.

This was a bold, ambitious, and ultimately miscalculated experiment by Disney, closing just a little over a year after it opened. Now, Disney has erased yet another remnant of what once was.

A photo has been making the rounds online today revealing that another Starcruiser sign has been erased in Walt Disney World. Twitter user @Dr_GrantSeeker shared the photo, showing that the directional sign pointing toward the former Starcruiser building on Osceola has been pasted over with a blue banner.

The sign still points drivers toward Disney Springs, EPCOT, and Magic Kingdom, but drivers will no longer see anything related to Star Wars.

This isn’t the first sign that’s disappeared recently, with Disney also wiping away another directional indicator for the Galactic Starcruiser earlier this month.

It was clear from the get-go Disney would have a hard time marketing its Galactic Starcruiser, as the experience only appealed to a fraction of its massive fanbase. The two-night, three-day experience was more similar to a cruise ship than traditional hotel, allowing guests to explore the fictional Halcyon Starcruiser ship at their leisure.

Guests would have scheduled activities and a set dinnertime, but the rest was up to them.

While the experience itself was divisive, the cost of Disney’s Starcruiser was what likely pushed people away. Two guests could expect to pay at least $4,000 for the short trip.

Disney’s Starcruiser closed in September 2023, a little over a year after its maiden voyage in March 2022.
