Disney Makes Another Big Mistake with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

A vibrant theme park attraction, Tiana Ride, features a log flume descending from a hill covered in greenery. Nearby, a sign with animated characters reads "Bayou Country," with a water tower labeled "Annie's." Lush plants and trees surround the scene, holding secrets of Disney magic.

A slew of new on-ride POV videos have been added to Disney+, allowing subscribers to bring the magic of the Disney theme parks right to their homes. The updated collection features 16 new Disney Parks POV experiences, including complete videos of popular Disneyland rides like Indiana Jones Adventure, Incredicoaster, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more.

However, the POV of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, one of the newer rides to open at the resort, features some glaring issues eagle-eyed fans are likely to easily spot as they are watching.

While watching the on-ride footage of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we noticed at least two of the Princess Tiana animatronics were not operating correctly. The first issue comes right at the beginning of the ride, where guests can see Tiana on one of the first lift hills.

The animatronic does move, but everything aside from her mouth and eyes remains completely still.

The second issue can be seen during the ride’s grand finale. This scene features a lot of details and moving parts, with Princess Tiana being front and center. However, the princess stands motionless during this scene as well.

Disney has faced numerous issues with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The animatronics seen throughout the ride have malfunctioned countless times over the months, with footage of these incidents going viral online. Specifically, the Tiana and Louis animatronics seem to give Disney the most issues.

Lifeless animatronics are just one piece of the puzzle, as the ride encountered delays and sudden closures during its first few months at Disneyland.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure first opened at Walt Disney World in June 2024. The water ride is located next to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, a western-themed hub full of adventure. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure now serves as one of the many icons and landmarks of the park, just like Splash Mountain used to.

Disneyland’s version of the attraction opened in November 2024, offering essentially the same experience, albeit in a more compact ride layout. However, riders swear that the “splash factor” on Disneyland’s version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a lot more intense. Guests can be seen exiting Tiana’s Bayou Adventure completely soaked, and while this is kind of the point, considering it’s a water ride, Magic Kingdom’s version of the attraction doesn’t seem to drench riders the same way.

Whether this was something intentionally done by Disney when updating the ride or simply a product of the way Disneyland’s original Splash Mountain was built is unknown, but we recommend bringing a poncho if you’re taking the plunge anytime soon.
