Are big changes on the way for one of Disney’s most iconic theme park rides?

Disney fans are used to big changes at the theme parks, though there’s never been a time like the present. Upgrades, overhauls, and all sorts of other projects are set to sweep over both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts in the coming years. Work has already begun on several projects, namely Monstropolis, a Monsters Inc.-themed land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as Piston Peak, which will take over the space formerly occupied by Tom Sawyer Island at the Magic Kingdom.

A lot of smaller-scale updates have already happened at Disney’s theme parks worldwide. One of the most interesting and long-requested changes came in August 2024, when Disney updated the controversial and outdated Native American scene inside the classic dark ride, Peter Pan’s Flight.

Just like the film that inspired it, this moment on Peter Pan’s Flight has been divisive for decades. By updating the scene, Disney not only acknowledged its history, but continued the company’s trend of adjusting its more problematic entertainment products for a modern audience.

Peter Pan’s Flight received a similar update back in 2022, which saw the “Indian Camp” replaced by a new location named “Never Land Tribe.”

Now, all eyes are on the version of Peter Pan’s Flight at Disneyland Paris, which is set to close this September.

Peter Pan’s Flight will be closed close from September 1 through September 19, 2025. The ride joins a long list of upcoming closures planned for the European resort, so travelers may want to double check the Disneyland Paris refurbishment schedule before their next trip.

While unconfirmed, now seems like the opportune time for Disneyland Paris to adjust its version of the legendary dark ride, just like what was seen at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

With Peter Pan’s Flight closing for nearly 3 weeks in September, will the Disneyland Paris version receive an update to the Native American scene, similar to Magic Kingdom last summer?

Disney confirmed Disneyland Paris’ version of the attraction will receive an update, but it has yet to be confirmed if this closure will be when it happens.

In early 2025, Disney also updated its West Coast version of Haunted Mansion, adjusting the attic scene to be a little less graphic. Previously, the axe-wielding Constance Hatchaway (get it) could be seen in the mansion’s attic, with a number of portraits not-so-subtly detailing how her numerous marriages ended.

However, in this recent update, the character was changed to hold a candelabra instead. Disney Imagineering commented on the change, saying the company has to be mindful bout what it shows inside its parks.

It would certainly make a lot of sense to see the same changes be made to Disneyland Paris’ version of Peter Pan’s Flight, but for now, guests will have to wait and see what happens.

How do you feel about Disney updating its theme park rides and attractions?
