Fascinating the slant given to this article. Tom Felton had a statement ready if asked about JK Rowling. It was well done. No matter what he said it would be slammed by either side. Celebrities need to stay out of politics.
If you claim you are tolerant and accepting, yet only tolerate and accept things you personally agree with and cause or even simply wish negative or unpleasant things to happen to those who you disagree with (punishment?) you are NOT tolerant nor accepting. You are as, if not more, bigoted and closed minded than those you disagree with. Feel free to “vote” with your money as regards supporting celebrities you disagree with. That IS your right. But they have just as much right to their opinions/views as anyone else (you) even if you disagree. It will be very interesting to see how many of those clutching pearls at JK Rowlings’ views actually follow with their boycott of the product. Betting they fold.
A literary work has a life of its own, independent of the author who birthed it. Harry Potter is not responsible for comments made by Rowling after the books etc. took on lives of their own.
God forbid he have an opposition opinion or even no opinion on a subject. If you don’t toe the line and are extremely vocal about it the “tolerant” left will hate you.
